Bournemouth is inflicted with the same issue, small time dj's who think they're great , playing r&b and sh*te like kate nash and lilly allen who really make my pi55 boil!!! At one time their was a local rock station who were on one of those temporary licences, they played classic rock during the day, radio friendly rock but still better than listening to pop or f*$king r&b, then a heavy metal show in the evening, playing metallica, maiden, megadeth, slayer including a request spot . Naturally they spoke of getting a permanent license...and surprise sur-f*$kingprise we never heard from them again- big sigh!!!
Why don't xfm go uk wide...please
A least it would be something...

Let me guess its something to do with DAB,rolleyes

Planet Rock, while good, seems to have a cut off point around 1995, they just don't seem to be able to play any of the current stuff.

Kerrang!, again, is good but as the OP said, has such a small playlist that you can only listen for a couple of hours a week without getting bored.

The only way I can guarantee listening to music *I* want to listen to is forking out for the CDs frown
