Radio one doing the rounds for the Buckley version which is nice to hear.

Although I REALLY do not want the radio to ruin the song for me.

Elster, Pablo...

I appreciate you calling me stupid for merely expressing an opinion, I assume that you have impeccable and irreproachable taste in music.

I stand by my top 3, Jeff Buckley's version is by far the best and the Katherine Jenkins version is simply superb. I honestly don't care much for what order you put Bon Jovi, Willie Nelson, Rufus Wainwright or Leonard Cohen (even though he wrote the original), I was simply tring to make a point.

Rufus Wainright.

Flipping fantastic version of the song. Unlike Alexandra's.
THANKYOU!!! I downloaded about half a dozen versions of that song trying to find it.

You must of seen my music collection to know I have the best music collection in history, no cheese or tat. wink

As long as you accept Bon Jovi was just a name to type rather than in order it is ok.

It's not a "version", it's the original!

I've seen a recording of KD Lang doing the song beautifully... think it's on one of the 'Later' DVDs. TBH, it's one of those songs that lends itself to interpretation and I don't think there can be an 'ultimate' rendition. Would like to hear John Otway have a go.... wink

Have you heard The Tea Party's version?

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JOHHguK5ILY

I can't hear that from work... no speakers.. so I don't know how good it is but I have heard them do it live somewhere else and thought it was pretty haunting.

So... does everbody else actually like this song (in one of it's many forms)? biggrin

For the record, my favourite was the one on Shrek.

I do actually. But I'm guaranteed not to to like the feck factor version.

Because I'm an auratorical snob. Oh yes.

I just heard the X factor one on the radio. Awful cover - too much over the top embelishment and belting it out, complete with cheesy key change.

Yeah, musical masturbation, which is ironically the area of expertise for Simon Cowell. Jeff Buckley's version is the best by a long way, and has been a favourite of mine ever since I first got into his music, when Grace was released. I see one of the posters here saw him live, which must've been amazing.
