Me too. Then CDs arrived, that you could spread with jam and still play apparently

Saves wear and tear on the vinyl as nothing touches it.

Would be handy to try one and see if it gets decent results off an old battered dub.

I remember this being tried thirty years ago. The main drawback was the dirt in the groove being "read" resulting in lots of pops and crackles.
The same dirt would be pushed aside by a normal stylus.
