When I'm playing a blues progression, I'll throw in some squeezed "micro" bends that don't even get to a quarter step.
Oh sure, there are plenty of instruments which have no frets at all and the player is at liberty to hit any note major or minor or anything in between- I guess the difference is that if you’re playing as part of any kind of ensemble those notes are the exception to the rule and the bones of the track are assembled around major and minor.When I'm playing a blues progression, I'll throw in some squeezed "micro" bends that don't even get to a quarter step.

They’re creeping in, got a play on 6 Music yesterday, Frankie Boyle used something from Nonagon Infinity in the advert for his current affairs show... I saw a copy of ‘Gumboot Soup’ in a Brighton shop window recently...
‘Samey’, though. Can’t let that sit. I have listened to everything they have done and I am struggling to think of a less ‘samey’ individual or group. They’re hard to pidgeonhole but have flirted with trash blues, punk, prog, indie, lounge, garage / acid rock, surf music, indie... you name it...
When I started listening to this band heavily I worried that it was a honeymoon period and I was overplaying it but they have such depth and variety that instead they have become my favourite group. I don’t think I’ve ever had a favourite group before. I have run out of records to buy so I might have to buy a tee shirt and some tickets to Australia.

I first listened to this band around a year ago and this year I can say they are officially my favourite. This is significant as I have not tended to have a 'favourite' until now.
This year I have looked into their UK gig options but their only performance this year was the Green Man festival a couple of weekends ago. In retrospect I probably should've picked up tickets when I could and gone alone if I had to. The festival was a tough sell among my friends as it was a bit niche and we had already done one festival three weeks earlier.
My fondness for this group and their record label has been gradually shuffling Melbourne up my list of places to visit.
I fear now that they are going to be the kind of group who burns brightly but briefly, hopefully I will get to see them in the not too distant. In any case they will leave behind a great back catalogue which so far appears to have enduring quality? I'm particularly taken with 'Polygondwanaland' at the moment which I think is a masterpiece. Second perhaps being Flying Microtonal Banana.
Rattling 'till your death!
P.S. Would be interested to hear what the demographic was like at the gig, bet the atmosphere was great!
