Hey, I came across this great song last night and I found it while searching for Trance. It came up as a Genre called Trip-Hop? I have never heard of such a genre before but listen to this song, it will send shivers down your spine. It has a very atmospheric sound to it and it really opened my mind up. Great for writers and artists, good inspiration.

its called "Umbrellas In The Rain" by Helicopter Girl.

It may come off as a bit, erm, shall I say flippy? In other words, I wouldnt want to be caught at a stop light listening to it, but that is more the ego of a young man than anything else, because I think it is great and I downloaded and added it to my list already.

Also, check out on the side bar on Youtube her other song, "Glove Compartment" Its really funky stuff.

Have you listened to the song I posted?

For the record, I am pretty sure I have heard of Sneakers Pimp before.

That's a tune you've found there Lotus, where can I find similar stuff to this?
I know! isnt it great! I have Ares instead of itunes and that other one that every one has, but after I found this I just typed in TRIP-HOP in the genre category and hit search. But The End seems to have some links as well! If you find anything worthwhile, please post!

a sort of time stutter/stretch effect which has caught on and used quite commonly today
Meaning, atmospheric?

I cant wait to get home and listen to the songs on the links you put up!

For trip-hop from slightly more hip-hop background try the album Entroducing by DJ Shadow. A real classic.
I have heard some of DJ Shadows stuff on Sirius and I like it. I have a few songs from him.

Well this is what I've come up with:

Massive Attack - Teardrop

DJ Shadow - Building Stream with a grain of salt

Hooverphonic - Mad about you
Well it seems like I will have a new CD to listen to while driving. Thanks! smile
