SSC Ultimate Aero at TAM Auto Engineering, Dubai.
Over 1200 BHP, a top speed of 270mph and 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds.

BTW, the GTR in the background has been upgraded to 1000 HP. One of 3 currently in their factory workshop.

The beemer is lovely but modern metal does have its place.

I sold my Mustang today and there was a lovely Exotic Cars plated Murci SV in white and black going through the test at the same time. Stunning to look at and even at tick-over it sounded just so...angry. A wonderful piece of kit.

my hotel is showing the footy, outside are various ferrari's and a merc slr.

i'm siding up to the slr to have a look in the window when the concierge comes out and asks me if it's mine. i say yeah, fancy going for a spin?

no sooner have i done peering when he's back at my side with the keys. a ferris bueller moment occurred before the word PRISON loomed large and i had to explain i was just trying to be funny.

all the while i'm wearing shorts, old tshirt and flip flops. gotta love dubai!

I thought the satin orange SLS i saw on Friday was a good spot until I was on D ring road yesterday afternoon and got passed by a 599 GTO! There cant be many of them in Doha.

Beautiful car.

I'm currently working on importing a Sterling 827 like this from the USA (same age, colour etc but with better wheels). It won't be the most exotic car in the UAE but I would expect it to be more rare than most Ferraris! smile

fair play richard, but surely the cost of shipping is multiples of the car's value?

i'll be interested to hear how you get on re: the import process.

A $500 car (purchased from someone I know so its condition is verified in advance) plus $1500 or so for shipping and USA export charges plus 5% import duty here plus inspection and registration still makes it a reasonable overall price for a near-unique car that is easy(ish) to look after thanks to its Honda Legend mechanical bits and excellent backup via the internet ( www.rover800.info/forum ).

Put it this way, it will be cheaper than the shagged out, million mile Toyota Camrys and Honda Civics that you see advertised locally!

are you american? i'll leave off alan partridge references if so smile

$1500 sounds cheap for shipping, i was working on a figure of double that.

as said, i'm very interested in hearing about the import process. i'm looking at buying something different from the US.

Brit - born and bred. So the Alan Partridge stuff is understood!

I've been running 800s for years now and therefore know them inside out. I got rid of my last one 12 months ago when I moved to the UAE but the idea of having one out here appeals to me. The reason for going for the American Sterling is that it is LHD and easier/cheaper to get hold of than an LHD European one.

The current owner was quoted $1500 for "ro-ro" shipping from Galveston, Texas to Dubai (including all US taxes etc) and so the only thing I need to add to that it the 80 road trip from Houston to Galveston. A container would be double that price, of course.
