What is it with this place?
Why is it that everyone you talk to is clueless?
Why is it that everyone will nod, agree, and say yes, then run off and either do nothing or something completely different?
Why am I having to have my pool man round for the 8th time in 2 months?
Why do half of my TV channels never work?
Why is the home telephone still not connected after 4 visits from "engineers" to sort out the cabling?
Why is my car making a funny noise when it was properly checked out only a few weeks ago?
Why is the geezer down the road parking on my drive?
Why are they starting to build up the road at 06:00 every morning?

This morning, I'm not in the mood......Dubai is losing it's appeal.

Oh, ok...no sympathy then.
Ok, try this..... the maid took 3 hours to wash a few floors and generally tidy up yesterday. Now, I rekon it would have taken me a week, but then again, I'm not a professional, right? It's outrageous.

AND I had to walk about 400 yards from the car-park to the office this morning, as I was a little late and no-one bothered to save me a space. I know, I know...I thought the same...inconsiderate bas'tids.

Not really a champers fan TBH.

Thing is, the fridge at home....It's on a normal setting, but when I put the beers in the top, they freeze. Put them right at the bottom, and they are a good couple of degrees above perfect drinking temperature.

Think a letter of complaint to the manufacturer is in order?

I need to get some time off and come and cheer you up.

I promise I will make there sooner rather than later, then you can let me drive your motor and get you drunk.

Think of it this way Chilli me old buddy pal, at least you're not in Russia. I mean, it's hard here. What with the gorgeous women, cold beer and gorgeous women.

I had to force myself to go out in Moscow on Saturday night. I don't take my resposibility lightly either, especially whilst I was belting out Oasis songs after far too many tequilas in the floating karaoke brothel.

You should feel for me mate.

smile
I do mate, I really do.
Bobski, you must come out for a visit...liven the place up a bit. Tru...Freegle is giving it some thought when work permits.
We could hire bikes and have a Middle eastern hoon...I mena, they'll break down and we'll all be killed, horribly by the other motorists, but all good fun.

I'll have a go at this one...

They are not clueless, just find it difficult to understand when you speak quickly as Engilsh is a forign language to them. Try making your request in Urdu, Tagalog, Hindi, Malay, Arabic or whatever language is their mother-tongue.

See above

Mine come twice a week, they need to in order to keep the pool chemicals balanced, clean the filters and vacuum the sand out.

Most TV channels are rubbish here anyway. I don't even bother with cable/satalite.

Do you live in an old villa? They're all like that. Don't bother with a home phone, it is actually just about the same price to get a cheap mobile on PAYG and keep it in the house.

It's a 4 year old BMW X5 V8. The first years of it's life were spent being thrrashed to within an inch of it's life, bounced off the limiter for minutes on end and never serviced. The history is made up by a 'mate' at the service centre. (probably)

If it is a shared batchelor pad then they probably don't have enough parking for all their Leb-mobiles and, thinking you are out during the day, use your parking. Call the municipality and report the villa as being used for co-habiting.

Because it is still cool enough to work at 6am and it mans they can have an hour off in the middle of the day when it is too hot to work.

There.

BTW, you forgot to rant about the driving, queue jumping, cost of (inset UK foodstuffs here), human rights and spitting in the street.
Ooooh, let me also help you out here...

They are completely useless. From the dozens of people we've had round the villa, to the dozens and dozens of people in the office. Not a clue. They will simply tell you what you want to hear. Would you do the same if someone with an accent spoke to you? These are directors for the biggest bank in the region....honestly, they have no clue.

I hear ya about the TV and phones. Thing is I paid someone 5k to have all these channels and he of course sold me the perfect package...and half of them have never worked. Phone, I give up.

My villa is brand new. We were accommdating at first given this fact. The pool "engineer" said that he's been working here in the pool industry for 15 years and never known a pump to go wrong, and went on to explain the problem with the gaskets. See, he understood perfectly, but still told me he had a replacement pump in his van outside, before taking the old one and driving off.
Oh, and did I mention they came to clean it, and knocked off the vent on the bottom with a few tiles.....It'll be have to be drained again.

The X5 was owned, from new, by an English lady who works for another bank. This has been verified by the dealer I bought it off (a personal friend, local guy) and the BMW dealer on the SZ road. The engone and interior are absolutely spot on...same cannot be said for the suspension/steering rack ( though I'm no mechanic)

A batchelor pad? Not really.

The other examples you give, I don't care about really. They are things that people haven't promised me action/answers to

Can we all leave the handbags alone please - this is not 'The Lounge.'

All of us understand Chilli's frustrations and we all know that it is a fact of life over here. Some days you can cope/ignore/laugh it off and other days it does get too much.

Suggest it might be time for a holiday to reset the system Chilli.
I agree, unfortunately wtdoom seems to enjoy this kind of thing, and does it everywhere he goes. I think if he's ignored for long enough, he'll find somewhere else to play.

The thing is, it's all frustrating at home, as I've paid a shed load of money for these services.
Claire, you mentioned swapping places. Wouldn't you have the 'ump if you'd paid 1000 quid for 1700 TV channels, and then half of them worked one minute, not the next, then not at all...etc, etc. We paid a huge premium on the Villa to have a pool, and it's been built by idiots.
The list goes on. To say "Ohhhh, but you've got this and you've got that" is not the point. I paid a fecking fortune to have that and expect not to be fobbed off with bullst!

Still, I slept well last night, and don't have a hangover.

Yeah, I know mate! My wife is fine, she just goes with it. I seem to have less patience, and want things resolved immediately.

Beers you say? Might be an idea, as I have a stranded sister (and her other half before anyone starts!) to entertain and am running out of ideas.

I hate to bang on about this, so last post....but it was there again tonight, parked sideways accross my 2 spaces! I left a small note....ok, an A3 bit of paper on the windshied. i wouldn't mind, but there are dozens of spaces free around here, you know the lanes with dotted lines specifically for parking.

Oh, and pool man? legal proceedings start tomorrow if I don't get things resolved!

Anyways, enough moaning....give myself a hearty.
