The sequential gearbox must be worth 3 seconds a lap over the Aston ZF.

Who is co-ordinating the series these days??

Glad that tosh has been laid to rest.

Would Mark Hales be up for a run in it?

It was very frustrating for us this year to see the series get such poor grids this yeah. For the last Super GT Race we run we had 21 Cars at Donington. It is Great to see John Hutchinson doing such a good job of the series and we had 23 cars out at Silverstone which gives us a great benchmark for next year.

Perhaps some of the older Modsports and Special Saloon Cars could be included?

In fact isn't it about time we had a new version of Special Saloons? There's loads of old F3000 chassis about which would make ideal donors for a modern interpretation of the series.

John, is there any chance that Silverstone would let the super GT run noise free at the 75th Anniversary event? David Ellis is very keen.Simon.

Just a quick message to all those who are interested in competing in the AMOC Super GT for 2010. As the man who chairs the Competitions Committee for AMOC I have the unenviable job of proposing what we run next year in our meetings. Please let me know if you want to enter cars next year as the grids we not as good as we needed this year. All organisers are suffering a bit but I really want to make this series work. So I need ammunition in order to propose lots of more races next year. We had lots of promises this year which did not materialise. I know this can happen but we will need far stronger indications for 2010 than we had in 2009. Please contact the office at "comps@amoc.org"

Mark, thanks for the prompting.

I have emailed comps@amoc.org to show my commitment to the series for 2010.

I also have a SCCA Trans-Am GTA spec Pontiac Grand Prix that I'd like to bring out in Class 2 (it's 430hp), which if plans come to fruition, I might be willing to hire out.

That'll add to the grid too.

Dont know about the other races this year , but the Oulton round was a staight 30 mins with no driver changes.
Hope this will this be carried on for next year , i.e one driver - 30 mins format.

Next year is a special celebration for AMOC,being the 75th Anniversary.Mark is trying very hard indeed to keep a full calender of events (the Silverstone meeting is proposed to be a two day one) and he needs as many entrants as possible ,especially for this high profile series. Please do try to give him him your support.Simon.smile

I think what we need is variety. What we would all want is a grid of 30 cars like the Ellis and Chamberlain but that wouldn't happen so what we need in my opinion are Races within Races.Otherwise people will not get there value for money with such a huge performance gap.We need a wide variety of cars but i think we need to stick to the format. Sillouette GT Cars.No Saloons,No Single Seaters and nothing that isnt based on a Road Car.Having said that i think we need to welcome one off cars and create an Invitation class. For Example invite some Class 2 Group C Cars to come and play. These used to have great Races with Malcolm Hamilton and there is a similar pace. We need to get the N24s out,Astons,Porsches and any GT Cars available and we need to have a list of people registering for next year.

But many do like the 40 minutes with a pit stop. You don't "have" to change your driver, but you can if you like.

Felix, the attraction (for me) of Super GT is that it allows the cars that are pretty well banned elsewhere otherwise (often for being too crazy!). If you make it Silhouette GT's only, that will thin your field too much. I feel that it should allow cars that are *not* based on single seaters - like some of the last "Special Saloons", which were F5000 cars with bodies slapped on top of them, but you should allows cars like Thundersaloons in as they fit the ethos of radically modified, but roadcar based.

I wouldn't like to see it encompassing things like Super Tourers, or more "ordinary" saloons. You could put a minimum capacity in there like 4 litres for that sort of car. It could allow cars like Australian Touring Cars into the mix - which would be mighty quick, spectacular, and sound right. We already allow cars like the old Camaro of Boysie Thurtle.

Yes to full-house Molsers, Saleens, and other GT3, GT2, even GT1 machinery. Not sure about C2 cars though - that might be a step too far.

Yes, there needs to be an invitation class for "everything else".

The only problem you have at the end of it is policing the rules over power. Class 1 is simple, you can't really cheat there as anything goes, but they'd need to keep an eye on Class 2 or any other "lower power" class.

Rob, you've confused me. Do you really want single seater F5000s with shells slapped on them, or cars which are more GT in their DNA?

Hmmm, Silhouette GTs only and no saloons but you'll allow in Group C2 Le Mans type Cars. Confused. Define a GT anyway. This year there was meant to be an Alfa engined Fiat X1/9 taking part (not sure that it did) but is that GT? I don't think so. I think some greater clarity is required on what is and what isn't allowed.

Maybe single seater based "Special Saloons" is a step too far but I think that things like the V8 Star cars should be allowed, even if they were all based on saloon cars. Need to get full grids within a relatively consistent set of rules before being too picky about saloons Vs GTs.

Sorry if I appeared to be speaking with a Yoda accent. Hmmm yessss,

No, I don't want to see F5000's with Veedub bodies on them in SuperGT.

Yes I do want to see cars which are more GT in their DNA, together with mad saloons (like mine), V8 Stars, Trans-Am cars, even NASCAR's!! Moslers, TVR's, etc...

The future is bright.

The future is Super GT!!

I was trying to be positive earlier in the thread, but allowing pure silouette cars is laugahble and I would never enter a series with these thing in and not even sure I'd want to be in a race with the Ellis car - (that ONLY has the cblock in common and as the series as now said the cars do not ave to have the original engine (just the location to the car they are "Cloning"), eventhis does not matter so "It is a PURE Silouette / Modsports car! Might as well be an F3000 car with a plastci body". No No No.

Like I have said the rules currently allow a Top Fuel Funny car in (as that is all the Ellis car is). No appologise this time It AIN'T AN ASTON.

It is whatever you think or say the super GT flagship, and the reason many spectators go to watch.Like CanAm we should have as few rules as possible, but do you think there should be more awards for the less powerful classes, and perhaps laurels and presentations to the racers within the race.

I don't classify the GT700 any more a silhouette car than a Mosler MT900 - which is eligible as is.

The GT700 - It's Aston-esque, with a Aston Martin engine. That'll do for me.

I don't think it's unbeatable. I'd like to see it up against one of Shorty's Moslers, or even Andy's TVR (with a reliable engine!). If he's pushed, it appears to be fragile, though more running will locate the faults, and he'll resolve those matters one at a time.

Let's face it, it was kept honest by an Alfasud last time out!! (until Tim's Alfa had transmission woes for the second time in the weekend)
