Paddock Hill kerb is an improvement - MSV have done a good job.
But beware - the new painted section does tend to drag you left into the wall. A couple times having used plenty of it I had to pull it back to avoid a big off.

Re pressure plates - yep, it could be a ruse.

Oh they are very real 2 sets at each location understand they will be linked to dedicated cameras with date and time stamp, and less than a tyre width off should trigger them.

I wonder how much they cost vs a bag of grass seed.
Must be in excess of £50k !

Probably means it's not about the grass. It's about having a single definition of what is considered racing on the circuit, and what is not.

It's 100% about grass (landscaping costs) - JP said as much in this open letter to Autosport a while back

Surely unless you've got a really wide car the old rule and the new rule are the same in that pic? In fact it looks like you can go further onto the kerbing than you could before.

Plus I can't see any grass that needs protecting.
So they've effectively painted over what was the green concrete run off outside of the kerb and created a wider red & white kerb area. I assume these pressure plates are under the tarmac between the kerb and gravel then? winkbiggrin

correct, but the area at paddock is new tarmac as the green of the old circuit had progressively broken up.

Depends what happens in the meeting prior the race weekend. The BTCC drivers aren't happy about that's for sure

If you watched the TV meeting at Donington today you will have seen most of the field exceeding track limits, but I understand that there was only one penalty!

As suspected the interpretation of the rules will vary hugely, but will probably be stricter at MSV circuits.

A lottery is hardly a way to run motorsport in the UK!

I saw a few cars exceed the track limits in each race. I wasn't looking closely enough to decide if the same cars did the same thing several times in order to get in trouble.

I certainly did not see most of the field exceeding the limits.

Re Palmers pressure pads, confirmed he's spent £50k on installing those pressure pads at Brands and another £30k on new grass!

Hmmmm, and I wonder who will pay for that? Arhhhh, yes, us, the competitor who actually provide the entertainment. Stand by for yet another hike in entry fees.

I also raced in the Donington meeting, and I have to admit, I did give the track limits a bit more respect that I have previously. Fortunately, I got into a decent gap and was able to take a little bit off the pace and make sure I had no issue. There was a 5s penalty applied in my race, so not true to say no penalties all day.

That said, it was always going to be as such at non-MSV circuits. How it will play out at Brands, where it's always been most closely monitored in the past remains to be seen.
