With a spec series, its always going to produce much tighter racing than a more open series because all the cars have the same performance give or take a few percent, so the only big variable is the skill of the driver.

The sad thing is, we were towards the back end of the grid... winning wasnt even a thought at that point - for me at least. That just makes it worse in my book

That was utterly diabolical driving.

And I now know my fear of hitting that barrier is not entirely irrational!

There have been quite a few generous people. Im honestly quite touched. Not quite enough for a rebuild just yet though.

Far from irrational, it's the one thing I'm really scared of on track.

If you look at Motorsport now days, so much effort goes into making accidents where cars end up heading straight into the wall a thing of the past. You can't, however, legislate for something like this happening when people behave like that on track.

Sorry I meant that particular barrier! I've hit plenty of barriers at various rates of knots, but that one always looks very perpendicular to a fast part of the track to me!

Bloody hell I just watched that and really felt for you as I saw that wall coming! I really hate those island thingy's to be honest. Very glad you're ok.
Indeed - just watched it and the sinking feeling in my stomach as a big shunt becomes inevitable...

Love the final comment though.

I don't understand that level of competitiveness in clubman racing. We are all out there to have fun and yeah it's nice to win but jeez we have to repair our own cars and stuff. I would hate to be responsible for causing someone to smash their car up and hurt themselves myself.
Hear hear. Let's all go racing and have fun, and give each other plenty of racing room.

That's strange Ollie. I've raced at Croft quite a few times and have never really noticed that barrier before! I'll probably pay it a bit more attention next time! biggrin
