Does anyone here run in the above series?
Got a few questions I wouldn't mind having a word with someone about. Will be calling CSCC in the next couple of days to see what they say.

Trying to decide between this and the Toyo Tyre Performance Saloon. Currently leaning to Future Classics but would like to talk to someone who is racing in it.

Brilliant thank you for all the replies.
I'll start by giving you the history. Two of us have a 50/50 share in what started life as a standard 1988 BMW E30 325 Saloon. Over the last 12 months it has become an outright track car. We always had a thought in the back of our minds that when time and money allowed we would build it to spec to enter the Toyo Tyre Performance Saloon series. Recently however someone mentioned the CSCC Future Classics. At the same time we smashed the recent baffled sump whilst driving on the road, which led to getting a trailer. Which seemingly has escalated our plans somewhat.

Now given there are two of us and to date all costs have been shared the Future Classics seemingly makes much more sense. The opportunity to race at Spa would be brilliant but would have to wait until next year.

The car is in the final stages of build to complete as per MSA spec we need to complete:
Rain light
Roll cage - Planning 6pt with door + harness bars to regs with Protection and Performance in Lancs
Electrical cut off
and we think thats it.

Bear in mind this is the first time we have done anything like this. In fact I still need to complete my ARDS. Aiming to be ready for July maybe in time to enter for Silverstone or Donington.

If your still with me I'll get around to my questions:
  • The question of entry fee's has been covered above but how much would you expect to do in a season. Excluding 'incident' repairs wink
  • How do we go about getting the car through scrutineering? Is it a case of enter and fingers crossed? Is there anyway we can get it validated before hand?
  • The regs seem very open. Is that the case? Get the car to MSA spec and that's pretty much it?
  • Anything I've missed/ignored or am blissfully unaware of which will catch us out at a later date?
I am sure there are more but that's all I can think of for now.

Brilliant thank you all for the replies smile
I will point the other owner in the direction of this thread. Let's say he's a bit handy with spreadsheets so we do know how much we have burnt already however there is no way I'll be admitting that one.

Well it's all starting to come together. Medical booked for tomorrow. Parts acquired for car including seat, harnesses, fire extinguisher and kill switch. Car booked in with Protection and Performance to have the cage fitted.

A few more questions if you may:
1) Rain light - What's that all about then? We have rear lights and the fog light, is this acceptable? I can't see any of the other cars with seperate rear lights.
2) Battery - must be in a box according to the MSA. What's the minimum we can get away with here?
3) Timing transponders - Do we have to buy one? If so where from (TSL?) or can we hire one?

Exciting stuff albeit wallet braking.
We are planning to enter a mixture of series primarily to get experience, the car should be eligible for CSCC Future Classics, Classic Touring Car Pre 93, BARC NW Sports & Saloons and TTRS. TTRS being the most restrictive and requiring a shrick connector to be fitted.

Some interesting cars in our class in CSCC including a Ferrari 308 and several 911's. We are not aiming to be overly competitive just get the experience, this year anyway wink

Can anyone see anything I have glaringly overlooked?

Paperwork completed and received.
We will be at Cadwell then. One stupid question will CSCC ship the series sponsorship decals etc or is it relatively free? When will a race number be allocated? I'd like to have it ready rather than make one!

You're wrong with the Shrick requirement - that's for /Production BMW/ class cars in their own series.

TTRS has no such requirement for a 325.

Cheers

Yep got that one answered a while back.
Went to the PBMW race at Oulton a few weeks back. The TTRS was really good and fun from the spectator side too. IIRC you did pretty well wink

We will definitely be out with TTRS next season!

Thats a shame. The tin tops at Cadwell had very full grids and some quite impressive guest drivers.

We had a total engine failure at Cadwell so hit a minor stumbling block. After sourcing a replacement engine from a much lower mileage car it would appear we are back up and running with only our pride and pockets affected.

So we'll be out at Oulton next Friday for testing before Snetterton. Won't be able to get to Silverstone though frown

Is your car not eligible for Future Classics?
