You could do a lot worse than Toyo R888s. The BRSCC Porsche championship races on these (Boxsters & 924s - so 968 should be OK), using the middle of 3 available compounds. The race format is usually 15 mins qualifying and 2 20 min races,and you can generally get 4-5 meetings out of a set - sometimes more. They come up to temperature within 1 lap too. Once up to temp, they also provide good grip in the wet, although if there's a lot of standing water they're no better than any other tyre with minimal tread.
