cheapest place to sorce ls7 engines
Discussion
I bought my engine from PWP and then used the factory and American speed for the parts. The engine conversion took longer than the car build and prices soon mount up. You can come up with your own solutions but basically you get rid of all the bits in the engine compartment and start again including, wiring, fueling, adapter plates, clutch, starter air con and all mountings. Transforms the car but it is a big change.

I think a great change in many ways. You can sell your old engine as a package which will help the costs. The upside of an LS7 IMO is it add value to your car, is much easier to maintain and live with. I'm sure your exhaust guy can alter your existing exhaust for the LS7.
Just let me know if you need any help when sorting it.

i must be able to get good money for my motor i recon... 600 hp sbc with exhaust, aircon starter etc must be good for alot of builders
ive bought exhaust already and low and high pressure pumps. i have airbox too
the thought of 10k for 500hp sounds strange already having had 100 hp more

Why the change Dom? I thought you liked the old school screamer?
I'd imagine a standard LS7 despite being a little down on power would be quicker still in most cases, so it's a good upgrade still. Not as characterful I'd guess, but I think they're a brilliant cross between modern manners and old school noise.
You planning standard gm ecu?

Hi Dom,
How about spending the money you save in a conversion towards a new build. It may take a while to build depending on finances, but at least everything can be the way you want it. Meanwhile you can still stay tuned with your existing car and use it where you find is best, I'm guessing not cruising down the high street to do the weekly shopping. It will be a pity to see you go as you have been a major supporter and participant in everything "Ultima" for some time.
Ult-jim.

If you have never done the Ferrari thing then its an itch worth scratching, consider the mileage you expect to do and then have a look at running costs.i love my sbc... on the open road its better than anything... but arround town id like something sensible... dont get me wrong i love the rawness of the sbc, the popping and banging, of a race motor... but getting bored and i change my cars every 5 years,, so what do i have now,,,,,,mmmm another ultima with ls engine. ferrari, lambo etc with high running costs or convert my own?
The later non-cam belted V 8's may be worth a look.
I keep thinking of a GT V12 but they are V expensive come service.
Doing the man maths for a "civilised" super car right now but don't know which way to jump.
I have done Porsche, and Fezza and I like the sound of the new "affordable" McLaren 570S one thing is certain I won't give up the GTR unless it is absolutely necessary.
I'm probably in a minority with my views on Ferraris. I appreciate some are great cars, most look ok, f12 isa bit loopy. But given the means I just don't aspire to ever own any other than an F40 or 50.
I know the modern ones are great cars, but they do nothing for me whatsoever, despite the fact I admire their capabilities.
