ive been talking to aim for a while about their new dashes.
they arent cheap but are affordable especially when you see what you get.
they are plug n play on odb cars but im getting together a kit for sbc engines as this is the dash ive been looking for.
is anyone interested in a group buy if i can get a kit working well?
the basic display is £834 with can can loom or odb2 loom, the sbc might be more, not sure yet what sensors need changing and what can be used from standard

I'm getting the 7" mxg for my build but i'm on the fence about using discreet sensors or the obd2 port. I do plan on incorporating steering angle sensor, brake pressure sensor, and gps for track data. For an sbc setup you'll probably need to use discreet sensors, but using data/sensor/canbus hubs can simplify wiring.
What I'm trying to say is I'd definitely be interested in a group buy.

I suspect the AIM dash is great for track use and those who don't need glasses for reading.
Personally there is too much info on there for me and the speed is not clear enough at a glance (especially without my reading glasses).
I will stick with my SPA dash I think along with my iPad reading the OBDII data.

I spoke with factory and ithey are looking at AIM dashes because stack uk has been bought and will no longer produce the steering wheel dash... which sucks a little...but waiting for the next release from the factory....but I,m keen to retro fit it to the can-am maybe

Im interested in the cars we already own, LS and SBC and looking at getting a group buy to save everyone money.. The dash is the one thing i really feel that lets the GTR or even EVO down and trying to help current owners update their dash.
i already know someone who can get 10% off demon tweeks price, im looking at getting more if you guys are interested.

I am currently completing an RCR LMP-1 car and I installed the Aim MXL2 dash. It is basically plug-and-play through the OBD2 port for the GM LS376/525 engine. You can easily program the dash with your laptop via Wifi or USB cable. There are multiple add-on ports that allow you to connect additional sensors that aren't included in the stock OBD2 configuration. You can basically change the screen to your own personal preferences. The RCR LMP-1 is track-only, so I also have the AIM Smartycam that simply plugs right into the dash. It is like a high-quality GoPro except the playback has all of the dash data on the playback screen, allowing you to analyze what you and the car are doing in conjunction with the video of your track-time. I haven't had the car out on the track yet, as I am still dialing it in, but it all seems to integrate and function very well.
I have conventional gauges in my Ultima GTR and am looking at AIM in my new Evo convertible. I'm thinking it will mount up on the dash where the conventional tach and speedo are......or not.

For your SBC builds you'll need to run discreet sensors for the dash, coolant temp, oil temp, oil pressure, and so on. The sensors are all bespoke, and have fool proof plugs so they can be connected only one way. The sensors are expensive, I won't beat around the bush, a full set for the typical parameters is nearly a grand $US. There are other features that make wiring easier though, like running the engine/trans sensors to a data hub in the rear, and then a single wire up to the dash. Everything works via canbus, and the interconnect wires or extensions can be ordered in different lengths. The tricky bit with the install is configuring each sensor in the dash software and entering the calibration data. It's a tedious task and not for the technically uninitiated, but is doable if you're patient. I've setup a couple cars with the older mxl pista dash and I think it's worth the effort. The data logging alone is worth it to me, I like pouring over the data to see how the car and driver are performing.

Possibly. The aim dash and loggers have enough adjustability to use other sensors but you must do all the calibrations on your own. So for a temp sensor you have to figure out temp vs resistance table then input that data into the dash. Ditto for pressure sensors or speed sensors. BogBeast said:

I am have just installed Holley EFi and I was looking ay electronic dashes to interface wuth that. Holley do their own https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_...
Which isnt as nice as the AIM but I suspect will be fine for me as it just hooks into the ecu.
if any of you guys are running odb connectors within your wiring loom dont waste your money on a dash

fit tablet
download multiple dash programs as an app
you have full dash. 100's of dash layouts for peanuts(i know im doing on my bmw m3 track car now
if you are old school like mike and me then watch this space, im seeing the aim importers soon and will find out
most of the aim sensors wont fit the v8 engine(threds different)
speedo we already have a pulse signal, rev counter is taken off the coil as standard wiring, it has gps reciever as part of the kit anyway which can be a second speedo feed, so all we have left is water temp, fuel level(which could be light no level), and oil pressure
worse case senario we run dash infront of steering wheel and 3 annaloge standard guages water oil fuel on dash
still would look the dogs with digital dash
