Orange ultima for sale
Discussion
Hi
I very nearly bought that ultima a couple of years ago when they first advertised it.
It was a nice build but the only thing that put me off were lots of black lines in the gel coat which never showed up in the photo's which I think are the same photo's that are being used now. For the price at the time which if my memory serves me well was 42k it would need a paint for me to be Happy with it and that made it too much.
Cheers.

I don't know the car but it looks a steal to me.
it's the cheapest on PH bar the weird paintjob one, I'd check it has a proper G50 tall ratio (turbo) box though otherwise you will tire of changing gear so often and also gas mileage will be abysmal especially as its SBC, not that it would put me off if it rang my bell after inspection.
Condition is everything with these cars if it has all the paperwork and MOT trail and it ticks your boxes.....
£42k with a warranty what's not to like?

No such thing as a 6 speed g50 turbo box, can only be a -20 or 21 I think?
What's your usage going to be, would be useful to know before others make sweeping statements about gearbox choice lol
FC you're sounding like a broken record with turbo boxes!

Lol - I come from th noble forum so I know all about subjective opinions!!!
Use will be fast road and occasional track, miss my noble but can't bring myself to buy another and admit I shouldn't have sold mine.
Euro trip once per year c 3500 miles total annually. Sound okay for an Ultima?
Cheers

I have a G50-20 which is a 6 speed box. Works very well in terms of ratios with my LS7.What's your usage going to be, would be useful to know before others make sweeping statements about gearbox choice lol

Not sure what car they were in originally though?

Youll prob need to spend a few ££ to get that orange one to be good on track.
After a thorough check over, alignment, fluid changes etc you'll need to at least change the springs and stick a wing on it, so straight away you're looking at 2-3k.
What's your budget - roughly what it's up for or can / will you increase for the right car?

That's what I was thinking. When you realise it does not have the latest Factory dampers, wing, front splitter and all the evo upgrade parts (steering rack & arms), rose jointed longer wishbones, 19'' rims, ali rad, better rad fans, break vents , plus lots of specialist parts available from specialist outfits then you are going to feel disappointed. If your interested then check with the Factory if they have a history file on the car. Still interested take along someone knowledgable to look over it with you.

The Ultima is still a great car without all those "bits".Ult-Jim
Yeah but I t doesn't need all those parts to be good on track. Don't forget, the factory were adamant that longer wishbones made no difference to the track performance over standard when queried....
If you were to buy it and look to purchase that type of component you'd be wise to speak to MacG first as you will be buying race developed and proven parts.
Can't see the ad but if it has intrax shocks they're at least as good as the current offering if in good nick.

My take is the car looks good in the photos but you'd really have to see it to be sure. It lacks a rear wing so that's somewhere around £2.5K if you are going to track it which then takes it close to Dom's car which has a higher spec. These cars vary hugely in build, condition and history but the spec looks good - over 500bhp, aircon, full roll cage etc. There is a limited supply into a limited market so I wouldn't get too upset that it doesn't have a whole raft of uprated or EVO parts fitted - if you are concerned fit them yourself but the cars don't need them to be enjoyed.
Buying from a dealer is less risky than privately as you have some redress if the car is not what might be expected - and they say you can purchase a warranty although I can't imagine what that would cost for such a car.
I came to a GTR after a Noble and a Tuscan and they are very different propositions and really are track cars for the road. My wife says it's the most uncomfortable car she has ever sat in and entry and exit can be interesting unless you are supple and relatively fit. The harnesses are a pain to adjust for joy rides and you can see why Lee fitted 3 point belts as well as harnesses in the Noble. However they are simple cars - I deliberately went for a SBC car as there are no sensors and computers, cats etc. The only one fitted to my - the immobiliser - has just had to be changed after deciding it might or might not let me start the car. A mite embarrassing after refueling when everyone has their camera phones trained on you....

Also let us remember the potential buyer is looking at spending just over 40k if they were into or wanted the latest Evo parts and LS power they would need around double that , so it's not being fair to the Orange car in suggesting the owner would be disappointed. It is what it is, a good looking Ult GTR priced at around 40k
Also if there are black lines coming through the paint this will only be noticeable on very close inspection and not in photos. Unfortunately this happens over time is recognised by the factory in older cars and is where pigment in the process bleeds through in the gel coat. The only remedy is a respray.

Paintwork from the dealers video walk around looks good, but I'd need to see it in the flesh.
