Audi RS6 engine with porsche turbo gearbox

PTO - just involves removing the centre diff off the back of the gearbox and blanking it off surely?
C5 RS6 are plenty powerful enough, easily remapped to 550hp and thats without going big turbo route, some are running over 800hp, as I've said though for me its not about big figures, 550hp in a car that weighs less than a ton with no driver aids is plenty thanks
Yes the output can just be blanked off. I never liked this as an engineering solution, you are effectively doubling the load on the remaining diff, however, given that the car is much lighter and the gearbox can be relatively cheaply replaced it probably isn't a problem.C5 RS6 are plenty powerful enough, easily remapped to 550hp and thats without going big turbo route, some are running over 800hp, as I've said though for me its not about big figures, 550hp in a car that weighs less than a ton with no driver aids is plenty thanks
From memory I estimated the cost to install a V10 Audi unit at about £10k, this was just man maths so probably not that accurate.
Saw my name mentioned, so I thought I'd ship in...
Most statements above are pretty much correct.
But Interestingly our motivation to go the audi route was because of emmisions concerns.
We had indications that american engine would not meet europeen CO2 outputs.
As for costs, yeh, it's pretty high, and shouldn't be an issue for your choice.
Over all it comes down to how good you are at fabricating stuff...You just cannot do it with of the shelf parts.
The gearbox I use is the biggest Audi transaxle we could find, and it bolts right on,
but we had to fabricate the flywheel and starter.
Only downside really is that the engine sits quite high in the frame...
Upside is, this box is dirt cheap (500 euro), so I don't mind if I break it...
The noise of the V10 : It sounds like the devil is making love to lady Gaga, 3 inches away from your ear...
It is exciting, painfull and slightly akward at the same time.
I'm working on a video with some good sound bites.

Yes, we did make an effort to make it look good.
For example the fuel rail & injectors run on the inside of the TB instead of out, for a cleaner look.
The exhaust was computer designed for perfect flow, but also to create the dramatic "bundle of snakes"effect.
I had to cut out the inner wheel arches a little to clear the mufflers. But I also took out a bit at the back. Because the gearbox sticks out a lot. This is because the bellhousing is very shallow, and the diff is at the very front.
Yes, It a shame to cover is up... but in the rear view mirror you still get this...

Fantastic. However I would be worried about my toupée coming off at speed and getting sucked in. Are you planning any filters ?For example the fuel rail & injectors run on the inside of the TB instead of out, for a cleaner look.

(ok so I don't wear a toupée, honest...)
That IS a thing of beauty. Really nice work.
But it does look like it is sitting quite high in the engine bay. What is the reason that had to be done? Is it the total height of the engine or something in hooking it to the transaxle. Just curious.
I have an LS7 (crate stock) in my GTR. It's a beast but regardless of the specs, it will never spin like some better-breathing (DOHC) engines.
