was that with street tires or drag radials. With 500 HP and little weight, traction had to be the limiting factor. With slicks it may run 9's

But remember. The positioning of the engine gives you plenty of weight over the rear wheels, so you get much better traction under heavy acceleration than you would in a front engined car.

You'd probably still find that a 1,000 BHP beastie wouldn't do the 1/4 in much less time though.

That was the best time of that particular day. And a cold day it was too.

Paul.

6 Ultimas turned up throughout the day

4 GTR 1 sport and a Canam

Best time was in the mid 11 ( not by me )

I knocked out a 12.22 and a 11.8, this is not as easy as I thought. No video: I only got 2 runs in,itwas a right off past 11 am there were 100's of cars

Great lunch with Bluesatin ( bacon and egg roll)

Overstayed by an 1hour talking to GTRClive, took a wife beating for that.

What I have learnt:

I need a limit slip diff for my car, I never managed to get the car of line, I took ages to get the power down, then the car flew, terminal speed 130 mph.
The gear change from 2 to 3 was a problem, I missed it twice

I can see future upgrades of kinsler injection and Motec M48 with traction control and a sequential G50 box from Gemini

I think the day went quite well.

I too only managed 2 full runs. 1st one 11.4 @ 126mph 2nd one better start but stupidly backed off into second and thus only got a 11.7 @ 124mph.

The third run led to best start of all leading to a broken CV joint reason? wrong CV joints fitted!

This will be sorted and I will get a sub 11 second time.

PS I do have a limited slip diff!
does anyone know what the Maclaren F1 did down the quarter?

Since discovered the Mac F1 did and 11.1 and mine covered 0-100 in 7.5sec!

Pleased to see that Ultimaandy repaired his broken drive shaft as a result of the kindness of gtrclive setting off to fetch replacements. What irony!!! see earlier posts, page 1. Sadly l only managed 14 secs. Do you think that is because l am running a 1.6 cortina engine? maybe an upgrade will help. l do have the advantage of a ltd slip diff but the disadvantage of a longer ratio G50/50 box. Despite this, l do feel that 14 secs can be improved on but l dont recognise the comments such as "endless power down the strip". l think a word or two with American Speed is due about my 442 three legged donkies.

Discovered a silly fact the other week when trying to convert some exotic units at work. 1 Horsepower (745.6 Watts) ~= 3 Donkeypower (250 Watts)

Saying my daily driver has 350 dhp makes it sound pretty good...
