Simon, Crafty,

Awesome job. I am just about complete building a car and am very interested in what you have done. Any chance you can either email me or post here what parts you used and where you obtained them? Even better, any chance you're willing to make up another pair for cash? I would email you directly but can't figure out how to extract your email addresses?

Thanks,

Henry

GTRSimon,

Looks like you used Solidworks to design your headers? They're beautiful.

Can you tell me how this was done? I have Solidworks, but have never tried to do any tubing design using this package. I'm assuming you use 3d sketches and just do trial and error until it works, then do a think sweep to get the tubing surface?

Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Having built a few race cars including a twin-turbo Ultima GTR, I'm a bit sensitive to the problems of building headers and will offer a few links that builders may find useful as a resource. Covers manual trial and error as well as full 3d CAD software development of headers and everything in between.

www.spectrum5.com/Solidworks%20Header%20Design.htm
www.spectrum5.com/ICE%20Article.htm

Also: www.spectrum5racing.com
then click on "technical", then "papers", and you'll see a video and two white papers on header design and fabrication.

Also under "services", there's another white paper on a Honda Turbo race engine we developed headers for.

Enjoy.
