After going through the new prices for the RS car it seems lot of parts have doubled in price from the evo, not sure why. So I put together a XL sheet with a spec I would want i.e. it includes the rear wing, carbon front splitter and rear difuser, aircon, interior carpet, bulk head, aim dash etc. I'd say this would be the minimum spec and 4 prices for the following engines; LS3, LS7, LT1 and LT4. It came out a lot more than I was expecting £81k for the LS3 and goes up from. I have added a lot of carbon which pushes the price up of course.

I might be missing some parts but this is to the best of my knowledge so hopefully fairly accurate:

What parts which have increased in price that remain the same with the Evo?

Here are a couple examples. Pack B is now £17059 with the RS, it used to be £13924. This is likely because of things like forged alloys in the RS, tinted windows and maybe other stuff I have not noticed. Pack A is around £1200 more also, there could be things in here not in the EVO.

But looking at just options in a one to one. Heater/demister kit used to be £214 now it's £395. Another one is the Transaxle invert kit it used to be £198 with the evo but now it's £375. Engine/transaxle adapter plate used to be £998 now it's £1215.

So the EVO bare minimum car cost without the engine but inc the transaxle is £51k inc.VAT exc. the engine but the new car is £60k inc.VAT excluding the engine. The £60k RS min spec doesn't include the engine, controller kit and accessory kit. Adding the LS3 to this will bring the cost to around £70k for a Ultima RS. Still in my opinion great value for the car you will get but it appears quite a bit more money than the EVO.

I went through this exercise to see if it can realistically be my next project in the garage so notice these things smile

Bespoke alloys, splitter, new bodywork, arch vents, side splitters prob account for a lot of it?

I’ve looked too but my man maths calculator couldn’t make it work with what I already have u fortunately smile

I know forged wheels cost a lot so the extra £3k is likely that for pack A. The stock splitter is wood, so I would not be interested in that tbh.

If I include what I paid for the original car, I spent £75k to create what I have now, excluding VAT.

£70k for an LS3 RS seems good value.

One thing that concerns me and Ultima aren’t responding on any platform is the exhaust dB rating

It can be the quickest car round any track but if they don’t allow you on track then it’s kind of pointless

The standard exhaust is too loud however they sell a 3rd silencer for trackdays. The upgrade exhaust (without mid silencer delete) will pass most trackday limits quite easily.

The whole engine, exhaust, fuel system, engine electronics are all Auto Bionics.

Well done Factory. A stunning effort by all....

...and hats off for this:

“The first port of call to achieving this goal was to hire the services of renowned sports car build design engineer, Steve Smith”

To have some of Steve’s ideas married to the Factory’s vision and know how has produced something quite exceptional!

All the very best with it.

Luckyp.
Steve Smith,I think he did the wing vents on my CanAm

Late to the party here....... So, £60K inc VAT, without any drivetrain parts. In realisty, with a basic LS3 (no cam / headwork), AB exhaust, run-kit and fuel system, plus gearbox & other ancilaries, that's more like £80K-85K inc VAT. For an LT motor, add a minimum of £11K to that (that's the base crate motor price difference of LS3 vs LT4).

I think we're now in the world where an "ideal" spec RS is a £100K car, home-built. Will be interesting to see what spec cars people start building from here, certainly creates some options / conundrums!

When I added it all up and assumed £10k for an engine, then I was in the £74k ball park figure (That included £17.k worth of upgrades) including VAT.

Its a rapid car for the money, but what else could I get for £74k at the moment ??

Obviously for most people (including me) its about the building experience and owning something that you have built (not just the man maths or no one would ever own a 'kit' car)

Not suggesting anything regarding alternatives / making comments about "kit cars", after all I've built 2 Ultimas in the last few years. My point was that a base RS car at the prices quoted here would not be 70K on the road. The drivetrain is about a quarter of the price of the car for an entry level LS3 & box. As I already have the full AB drivetrain kit in my car, I can tell you how much the turbo box, exhaust, fuel system, run kit, etc come to and that's not to be underestimated.

There is a history of people underestimating the cost of building one of these cars, then trying to build it down to a budget when they run out of cash. To build an RS to a base spec is going to need a budget starting with an "8".... how much north of that you go will depend on options, but add min 11K for an LT.

I've been through the full price list and am deliberating what to do next...... apply the body upgrades to my car? Sell & build an RS? Or sell and go and do something else? The new Radical Rapture looks tempting...! Whatever I do is more £££, LOL!!
