Just making an OT point about the "elitist" argument. I am not in a position to own an Ultima and suspect I never will be. The main reason I like this forum is that I like cars, the engineering and the technology. I suspect if you go to the Porsche or Ferrari forums and ask techie questions about their cars half of the owners wouldn't have a clue as they get the local dealer to service their cars and never even look at the engine. Ultima owners are different, they are all very knowledgeable about their cars, even the ones who are having cars built for them. That's why I can forgive you all for being a little bit snobbish about the wannabes like me

It was the cam sensor on the blink that caused it not to rev past 4800.
Frightening now! Hope to be on the dyno later.
The aluminum LS2 block has many GM updates to make it stronger, we wanted to test it, so no girdle.

SWEET! Glad you figured out it was the Cam Sensor. Hope those links helped. Weird how everyone with the BS3 has had trouble with the cam sensor....... Hope the engine holds up well with the high HP you are pushing. Post up some Dyno results when you get them. Can't wait to see what it can really do!!!! You are going to crush this event next year! Another Ultima record to go on the books.

PS jeff are the exhaust manifolds you use cast or tubular??

I am pretty sure he said they were tubular when we toured his shop. He mentioned they fabricated everything in house for the turbo set-up on his car. They are a tubular log style judging from the pictures on his website.

thought they looked like logs! they look really good and put the turbos in the exsact right place. wonder how hard it would be to fab up?
also jeff, what about a kit for a stock displacment ls1?? there are a lot of guys pushing over 1000bhp with 346 ls1 in the states!
thanks Chris.
Since I was building the engine from scratch, I used a 4" stroke forged crank as it's the same price as stock stroke 346 crank.
The turbo package will work on any displacement. The T61's will easily support about 650 hp each. The manifolds, intercooler, and all piping were fabricated here.
I had it on the chassis dyno the other day. We could not get it to stop literally smoking the tires when it hit 5# boost. We removed rear body, and tied it down so the shocks were compessed to half travel. SO the readings were low of course. On the street traction is not bad, feels like you've been shot from a cannon. It drives nearly like a stock engine when out of boost and got 20+ miles per US gal when driving 250 miles from the Silver State in near Ely NV to LasVegas
