Quite apt that on a day when I join the 'Facebook Ultima Group' and start thinking even more about Can-Ams that I should see my 1st one for a while on the road today - and close to where I live. Anyway, hello to the owner of the lovely orange Can-Am (with an appropriate reg) spotted on the A322 just south of Bracknell today. Sounded and looked cloud9

I have just checked out the profile pic and it was definitely this one - Nabbot. Looks fantastic.
I should add that true to form for a V8, he was turning off to fill up at the petrol station......!

Guilty as charged 😀

Oil leak is 95% there and the last run is one of the 'shake downs'

Whats 95%? Is it fixed. I am curious to know what it was.

So the crank shaft oil seal was definitely leaking - it's now not. Upon putting the car back on the road I think that the aeroquip scavenge pipes were weeping (solved with a little PTFE) but it persists to leak from the back RH side of the sump. Essentially, I think having fixed one leak I've given myself another (albe it way less extreme.

I've ordered a new sump gasket and will be less conservative with the sealant upon refitment..... which brings me onto my next issue (see separate thread).

Dam driving around Bracknell is a nightmare most of the time due to all the temp speed camera/roadworks even in a normal car! Always wanted to see a Ultima, big softspot for the car! Glad the oil leak is almost fixed!

BTW - i did stip the g/box, clutch, flywheel, and adaptor plate off to inspect the plugs on the back of the block - nothing - not a trace of oil

In that case I am sorry that I mentioned it. At least you are narrowing down the possibilities.

No need to apologise - it was a totally legitimate suggestion, and it's not like I get to drive the car in March/April anyway laugh

I have a new sump gasket set in the post so will do the flipping sump One last time - and that should be an end of it!!
