Hi guys, just got my GTR after months of looking.
Due to the forum someone put me in touch with someone who was thinking of selling, now the owner of a 2005 black GTR!
I'm sure I'll be asking loads of questions but at the mo need a bit of time to get my head around my latest toy.
I'm based in Kent so any others in or around the county?
I put a request in to join the face book group, could someone invite me please?
Jon

Arrrr,
I'm used to Porsche terms and numbers, a lot to learn.
It has a Chevy 350/383cid dry sump engine built by Fastco Automotive with a reported 600+BHP, running on an EZ-EFI 2.0 Fast system.
I have the engine build spec and it has been built up with lots of lightweight and balanced goodies.
The previous owner had the cam changed to make it drivable on the road,G50 6 speed box through a GT3 clutch, it seems to have worked as its very user friendly.

That's a good start to the day:
Chucking it down with rain (can't last forever)
Trump.....(can't last forever)
After reading the above link, my engine...(???)
Still lets drive it and see what happens

Been there, seen it, done it. . There are LOTS of SBC cars on here with tons of happy owners (so it must be possible to have a durable, reliable SBC that doesn't melt your wallet and send you into a spiral of depression) - I just wasn't one of them and still blame Abbosevolution for goading me into the whole thing Chucking it down with rain (can't last forever)

There was a period of time several years ago when the SBC took some hits on here because of premature bearing failures. IMO they where to cheap or stubborn to install a proper dry sump system and it bit them in the butt. Any properly built SBC with a proper oil system should last for 100,000 miles in these cars. lee

mine has a similar engine but i left high lift cam in, hence i cant run efi!!.. the lower profile cam will loose a bit of power but will allow the efi to work and be far more enjoyable on the roads.
the engines are great engines. just change the oil regularly and check valve clearances and springs every 1000 miles.
A great contact recommended on here is Charles Dunn Engineering.. he knows the cars inside out and the engines, his website

There are no advantages to the SBC. Chevy took 30 plus years of experience on the SBC noted any and all faults and tried to correct them. At first it was true that the SBC was cheaper to build but even that's gone now if you factor in an alloy block for the SBC. here in the states you will see very very few new high end builds with a SBC. The exception might be if you had a high spec SBC setting in your garage. Lee
