I was speaking to Peter Claridge and Aaron Scott of Master Motorsport at the weekend and we thought it might be worth trying for a bit of an Ultima fest at the Brands Hatch meeting in September (28th).

If you guys are up for it Peter can probably arrange tickets for you (i.e. free entry) and hopefully a dedicated parking area. If enough cars can commit then maybe even the parade lap around track could be on the cards again.

If you're up for a day out and a bit of Ultima-ing together with the team then shout out now and we'll see what we can pull together for the weekend.

Nice one. If you guys can round up a few others in the next day or so then I'll talk to Peter again and we'll see what fun we can sort out.

Looks like we've certainly got enough for a decent showing on the Sunday at least.

Could those of you who can attend please email me via my profile and let me know your addresses. I'll then talk to Peter about tickets and arrangements.

Ok, we're getting there. I'll give Peter a call this week and see what we can organise.

Right, Peter Claridge from Master Motorsport introduced me to the coordinators of the GT series at the weekend.

They're very keen to help out and have confirmed that they will set a display area aside for 12 cars. The owner of each car will be provided with two complimentary entrance tickets.

They hope to be able to lay on a parade lap, but they can't guarantee it.

brdc chaps said:
If possible we will allow these cars to carry out a lap of the circuit. This will be behind a Safety Car and will be at a controlled pace of no more that 60 mph. It is essential that seat belts are fastened and that all drivers and occupants have signed on. Unfortunately, no minors will be allowed to take part.

So far, I have the following confirmed as attending on the Sunday:

Andycanam (Can Am)
Chewy + Brother (GTR + Can Am)
Ultiman (Mk 4)
DaveJW
GTR Mike (GTR)
GTR Clive (GTR)
Ultima Paul (GTR)
Ultima Simon (GTR)
Blue Satin (GTR)
Stig (GTR)

So we've got one set of tickets going spare. First come, first served, just email me with your address.

Should be a great sight!

And the last one is Brian and his Can Am (Crazy of Cookham).

I'll get onto the BRDC and sort out the tickets. Sounds like some sort of convoy will be required Sunday morning (this I have to see!)

All details were passed over last week. I expect they'll be sent out early next week. If you don't get them by Tuesday morning then let me know.

So, pre-arrival rendevous at Clackett Lane then?

The timetable has been juggled about a bit in the last couple of days. I'll check the latest...

I don't have a problem with that. Sounds sensible.

Just got an email from the BRDC

I have sent Ultima group passes & timetable. Due to 31 GT cars, paddock has changed significantly. I will have to determine a parking area Thursday/Friday & we'll let Ted know then.

The timetable is available here:

www.pistonheads.com/motorsport/news.asp?s=27&storyId=7362

I'd suggest meeting at about 10:30-11am. That should mean that most people can get up at a reasonable hour and also that there's plenty of time at the circuit.

If we get there too near to the race, the Ultima team will be getting a bit stressed out preparing for it and won't have time to natter. There's also plenty of other good racing to be seen before the GTs.

These are the people who should be coming:

Chris James (Reading, Berks)
David Weeden (Leatherhead, Surrey)
Brian Stanley (Cookham Dean, Berks)
Glyn Coxon (Preston) Early start then!
Nick Meurice (Hythe, Kent)
Mike Harris (Bletchingley, Surrey)
Paul Buckthorpe (Southampton)
Simon Jenkins (Hayes, Middx)
Guy Thompson (Marlow, Bucks)
Clive Davies (Southam)
Andy ‘Gladwin (Bures, Suffolk)
Dominic Cross (Bromham, Wiltshire)

I hope we don't have any last minute cancellations as it's taken a fair bit of negotiation to make this happen and it would be a shame if we didn't have a decent display to put on.

Tickets went out on Tuesday apparently.

Don't panic if you haven't got them yet - I'll ensure we can get in on the day.

Nor have the BRDC informed me of where they're locating us

Don't worry about it. I've the mobile number for my BRDC contact and I'll kick up merry hell if there's a problem.

I'll see you all at the pub.

I'm at the track tomorrow anyway, so I'll track down the people I've been dealing with and sort it out. Sorry for the hassle - do not let this spoil the plan, we will get in en masse.

Ok, if anyone hasn't received their tickets, I can mail you instructions for how to get in.

Apparently there was a strike at one sorting office and a fire at another which delayed the post!

If anyone is going straight there, this is the deal:

Enter through Scratchers Lane entrance & into paddock.

Exit the paddock through the gates at the top near the fuel pumps.

Go past the Kentagon with Grandstand on your left, past the SEAT Pit Stop area

Park on the right (area coned off)

Top turn out with some amazing looking cars. One of the most entertaining convoys I've ever been in. I've never seen old ladies stop and grin at obscenely powerful cars before or so many people stopped in their tracks.

Top quality display!
