I’m currently struggling to sort my sky subscription out. I guess I’ve been a bit lazy and just let it run (a Sky perfect customer) . I pay £113.50 per month for broadband, skyQ HD with the entertainment and sky sports, I want to get rid of the sports, I’m also fed up as the series link seems to be flawed (deadliest catch and gold rush) and when I try to look at new episodes it says I need to upgrade? And a bug bear from day one has been regional news, I have an LL postcode which is north wales, guess where my regional news is? Southwest! Where I live isn’t even on their weather map.
Trying to actually get to see on the sky app, what I actually pay for is a nightmare, and so clunky. It’s not user friendly, it seems you can only upgrade, not downgrade.
Any ideas how to speak to a human?
I’m not that tech savvy as you might of guessed.

Back to the cancel game for me as contract up in a months time. Got the heres 12 months of discounts email but still puts my bill up by £12 a month. If it had been the same price I would have been happy.

Whats the expected deals just now?

as most use SKY just for the sports...

NOW TV seem to have a Black Friday deal on the Sports pack for £17.50 for 6 months at the moment (can be cancelled after the discount).

Other others on cheap Entertainment and Films too.

Was paying £89 for all channels and 1 multiroom, contract finishes at the end of the month.
They said it was going up to £102, so I told the Mrs to just cancel it which she did a few weeks ago and said they would post out the box etc to send back the equipment.

We didn't hear back from them until a couple of days ago and then they offered whatever we had for £86 so just renewed it again for 18 months

Tbf the base Sky pack also includes Netflix and Discovery+ these days. I can't really see the value of the Now packages, and you can't get UHD either. Of course you have to pay for that with Sky but at least there's the option!

I have just spoken to the retentions team at Sky.

Im currently paying for the basic pack @£34pm, F1 @ £17 plus some other stuff which comes in at £46.07. Apparently my 'deal' at the £46.07 runs out on 6th December and after then will revert to the full price of £61!

As I am a Diamond level customer (been wasting money on Sky for over 19 years) he can offer me some new discount on my package which will reduce my costs over te next 18 months by £1 pm. It will cost me £10 admin fee to do that, but when I mentioned that it would take me until month 11 to be in profit, he said he could give me the max customer goodwill payment of £10 to cover that.

Having found out where I stand, I told him I needed to sit down with my wife and work out what we were going to do with the £1 saving.

So I guess what I really need to consider is the alternative.

Important requirements are:

1. Recording box so we can watch when convenient and mor importantly fast forward the interminable adverts.
2. Access free to air in HD
3. Access F1, borderline unwatchable with Croft and Schiffe destroying any credibility of the pundits.
4. Convenient to watch without spending ages finding an alternative channel on various platforms.

I guess that about covers it!

I've been on the online chat for most of the day trying to cancel my subscription that is out of contract on the 30th November. I got them down on price but not enough so have cancelled. Now I've been told it will cease after the 31 day notice period. If I am contracted until the 30th where do I stand with this?!?

You aren't "contracted until the 30th"; it's a rolling contract until 31 days after you give notice to cancel. It may well be that your discounts end on the 30th.

What he said.
4 weeks notice needed.

If less that that, your pro rata final bill will be based on the non discounted amount.

Who's your broadband supplier? When you say "free to air" do you mean via an aerial?

I was offered the “basics” option when I cancelled which is pretty much

Keep the Qbox
No recording, RW,FF etc
Only free to air channels
SD only

£5 a month.

If I wanted HD - that was additional.

Fantastic. What will they do if I cancel my direct debit? Do they bother chasing?

My cancellation went in yesterday. Couldn’t offer anything as I have current discounts so lets see what retentions offer if I ever get contacted.

They used to bombard me with offer letters and calls but I've not had anything from them for months now.

It may be because on the last call the guy asked what it would take for me to come back and I said they would have to be paying me.

Since my broadband has ended and transfered over my Sky Q box doesnt want to connect very well to the new internet provider, took ages to setup to start with. Nevermind only 10 days left and then the TV stops.

I have been waiting to hear of full fibre FTTP coming into my street, a few years ago Openreach fitted a new fibre line and modules under the pavement with view to them connecting to the poles eventually but they have been kicking there heals since. Now Ogi has come into the area but not quite ready to connect to houses yet. Then this week I spotted some engineers running more fibre optic cable under the pavement so stopped to ask if this was Ogi coming to the street and he said no, its Virgin Media.

I had VM in a previous property and never had an issue so hopefully that will be my next package.

I'm almost in the exact same situation.

Been looking into the F1TV streaming options, but it seems hit and miss with the vpn.

That's the only reason I still have sky, but it's getting far too expensive now the discount has ended.

Going to see if there are any black Friday deals tomorrow, if not I'll cancel.

Exactly the same boat as me.

I cancelled. I’ll be using an Amazon cube moving forwards.
Can get f1 through nefarious means but I’d rather have a reliable source.
