More progress - we had a 'bar area' fitted in the recess, a small cupboard and an under counter fridge in black wenge cabinets. My wife and I then spent the weekend fitting acoustic underlay to the main area - it's a 12mm thick matting consisting of a foam layer and a high density rubber layer; this is surrounded by edging to raise the level for the gripper rods. The speakers have also been installed - the covers are just there to protect them during the build, as they will be behind fabric when finished.

OK, so we are starting to get to the finishes now. Carpet has been fitted (black).

And here is a shot of the uncovered front speakers plus sub.

Yes, screen and the fabric wrap are acoustically transparent.

The pros are back now, so things are moving on more quickly.

Here's a shot of one of the surround speakers.

The main work is now acoustic treatment and fabric wrapping. There will be some sound absorbing and some sound reflecting panels placed on the walls, and then everything will be hidden behind a black fabric wrap.

Here is the left side wall, with the speaker, battens on which the fabric track will sit, plus mounts for the wall lights (you can also see the wiring for the floor lights coming up through the carpet).

And here is the same for the rear wall, although the speakers are still covered - they are the same as the side ones. The wires lower down either side are for the Control4 dimmers / light feeds, and there is also a control for the AC on the left side.

Here's a pic of one of the Atmos / ceiling speakers - only because I hadn't looked at one with the grille off!

Now they are moving on to the fabric tracks that the fabric gets pushed into to hold it taut.

The wooden pads on the front wall are the fixing points for the screen frame. You can also see that the AC outlet (at the top) is now boarded over with a grille which will sit flush with the fabric, and the removable panel below that is wrapped in material, the rack will sit behind here, as well as having a grille which will be the primary intake for the AC.

The under fabric acoustic treatment is next up. Here's the left wall with the sound absorption pads.

And some of the rest of the room

Great build, have you had Triad speakers before or heard them?
Heard in a demo room but to be honest, the whole build was specified by a specialist company so I'm relying on it all working well together as a whole build.

Some of the detail - build up around one of the dimmers so it will fit flush with the fabric once applied.

One more of the ceiling before it is wrapped.

Wrapping in progress

The rear wall has sound absorption and reflection panels on it.

And more wrapping - the inside of the projector box and the door will be wrapped too so the door is flush.

With wrapping progressing well, the electronics install needs to continue. I built a little plinth for the rack as it will be on an umbilical cord so it can be pulled out into the room. The plinth means that the rack is sitting about the same level of the carpet so there is no bump to wheel it out. I also trimmed the carpet nicely and put a threshold strip in.

Looks amazing. Can you share how much something like this costs please?
Obviously depends on a lot of factors (eg we had to build a room within a room first, and we had AC fitted) but it is going to range from mid to high 5 figures yikes

Did they use kit to measure where to put the sound absobption panels? or is it worked out in room design software?
There was a detailed layout plan that provided the location and spec of each panel - but whether it was just a regular spacing or something ‘worked out’ I don’t know.

Wrapping is now done, and the lights are pretty much in (I'm still wiring a couple of the floor lights and one was faulty). You can start to see the effect - it is quite subtle and we decided not to go for the LED strips etc., not that I don't think they are cool too!

Here you can see the rear seating area, with power in the floor for the reclining chairs. The finished projector box with the projector installed, as well as the wall lights, downlights and uplighters.

Here's what they've done with the door which is amazing. They even painted the cinema room side of the parliament hinges black, although you can't really see that in the photo light as it is boosting the exposure given how dark the room is!

The primary patch rack has all of the speaker inputs to the left, which in turn feed to the main rack. In the patch panel itself, the top connection is to the projector, the next three are for future expansion (already cabled) and the last one is the uplink from the main incoming switch fo the house. This all feeds to a Unifi Gen 2 16 port switch - which wasn't in the orignal spec and isn't really needed! - this switch also connects to the switch in the rack. At the top of the picture is the power supply for the Lutron blind.

There is a delay in the supply of the blind, so this bit is going to remain unfinished for a while.

And here is the primary rack itself.....from top to bottom.

A couple of blanking plates and the supplier name - I've only cleared it for now as I haven't asked them if I can post anything. Then there is a Furman power conditioner that supplies all the power to the other devices.

Another Unifi Gen 2 16 port switch.

The Control4 automation hub.

Two shelves, the top one for future expansion (my Sky Q box) and the lower one has the Lutron RA4 blind controller and an Apple TV 4K which is the primary source.

Then the Triad Rackamp 700 which is the power amplifier for the Triad sub.

And finally the AV decoding and power amplification (apart from the sub) is an Anthem MRX 1140.

Over the weekend they delivered the furniture. The rear seats are the full cinema seat job with powered recline and headrests and cupholders with coolers - as well as USB ports in the arms. Very nice!

The front row sofa is fine from a distance perspective, but if there are people sitting in them, their heads get in the way unless they slouch. But hey, if we didn't have front seats then we could only have four people in there so I don't think we have lost anything. And people will end up slouching anyway!

Looks great. Would you mind sharing the details of the rear seats?
Rear seats we sourced ourselves and they are these ones: Universal Ultimate 4 Cinema Chairs

There are a lot more in the range though, see Deluxe Deco Cinema Seating.

The sofa came from the same place.

Thank you. Are you happy with the quality?
Of the seats? Yes, they work, they are comfortable and do exactly what we need. I probably wouldn't buy the stuff for my living room, but it's perfect for what it is and much much cheaper that most 'cinema seats' which suffer from a similar issue to supercar tax on car parts.

If you can make a trip to Windsor, they have pretty much everything on display to try. Or they do video appointments apparently - we live close'ish to Windsor so didn't need that option.

We've had a few delays in finally finishing as

The sub was faulty but has been replaced.
The blind was missing the control unit, awaiting one from Lutron.
People doing the fabric couldn't finish because the blind wasn't fitted, and now we are arranging for them to come back and finish.
One of the floor lights was faulty, awaiting a replacement.

Almost there though.
