So how are you finding the Pana Fizz?

No regrets so far I hope?

I still cant make up my mind.

I really a set the performs well but also is attractive on the wall if you get what I'm saying the Samsung just looks so good. Is the pedestal on thesony and Pana removable as I will be wall mounting the tv?

You have an e92 M3 (one of which, recently, impressed me massively.)

You had a 996tt.

And this is even a question?

52HX903 is (was) a full LED backlight TV, one of the most stunning that I have seen, odd since Sony no longer have a full LED backlight in their current range, only edge lit ones.

Yeah went from the porker to the Beemer. I fancied a change. Felt the 996 turbo was a little one dimentional. The m3 was a fantastic car an amazing v8.
I swapped the m3 a couple of months ago for a GTR and can honestly say this is in a whole different league to the others. (must get round to updating profile)

Sorry cant comment as yet - I only ordered the TV on thurs and its not getting delivered till Sat 3rd sept.

So I have a week of wondering if I made the right decision. As soon as I get the TV I will let you know my thoughts.

Though I do know the pedestal is removable - and while I agree the Samsung does look amazing in a wow 'bling' sort of way, i personally feels it doesnt look as high end or classy as the panasonic. The Panny to me has a certain sophistication about it - all personal opinion and a lot will depend on the rest of your room set up.

I guess I'm taken by the picture to the edge style of the Samsung.
Went to have another look tonight. The panna does look good but Im smitten by the style and picture quality of the Samsung.
Have yet to see the Sony 923 it may be a deal breaker.
I found the d7000 for £2049 at richersounds which John Lewis will match.
Just need to maybe find a good deal on the d8000

How do you know that the picture you think on the samsung is actually good?

Unfortunately you have been swayed by the pretty bright vibrant eye burning colours and cranked up sharpness.

The pana is highly regarded because it is that good, it'l show you how the picture is meant to look, not all oversaturated and oversharpened like some gimmicky samsung.

Mainly because I compared the Pana and Samsung side-by-side at Lakes in Slough in several different light configs

should I want to spend c£2k on a 55" TV I would buy a d8000 everytime. As it is, I figure waiting for 3d TV without glasses maybe worthwhile.............

If 3D is that important get a good 2D screen and wait for JVC 3D projectors to reach a price level you're happy with?

I've just put one of those 8k series jobs on standard def.

Tweaked and tweaked and tweaked.

Er, nein, danker.

{Had to revist in the face of all this refusnik behaviour.}

Reminds me of the time a certain Japenese 40" lcd received an unqualified product of the year type accolade from a major, sector publication - it simply wasn't all that and yet - would folk listen?

Then again, Beiber and Beyonce are en vogue and ubiquitous whilst Physical Graffiti by Plant & co. is hardly an airplay dominator.

Quick resurrection..I'm looking for a 46" or 50" TV for the living room. Ideally I want thin as possible as it's going to be wall mounted straight to the wall (no recess or cabinets).

Looking at reviews online and comments from owners it seems the Samsung AE46D8000 is a cracking set, yet the aficionados on here seem to slate it.

So what's the score - where should my well earned spondoolees be going?

I don't get all the Samsung haters on here and the Panasonic lovers. I've found the VT30 wanting in comparison to the UE55D8000.
This is my personal experience but I have been to see both in different showrooms / demo rooms now and the Samsung always out shines the Pana.

The Samsung is very thin and a great set to wall mount. The input location is ideal and if you use the proper Samsung wall mount it is very easy to connect or unconnect PS3 etc

If (lack of) depth is your main criteria, go for LCD. Not my bag so I can't help on a recommendation.

If quality of picture is your main criteria, go for the 50VT30 or 50GT30 if you can't quite stretch to the VT.

Me, I look at a picture on the display, not the display. I've got a VT30.

Saw a 50VT30 on demo today - absolutely stunning picture and I was amazed how thin it was.
