It's well worth the upgrade, even the non HD channels look better as you can do away with your SCART lead!

Great news, I have not had Sky+ for about 6months now as I refuse to pay for a new box when the hard-drive went titsup (it broke and they wanted £100 for a new one, yes I am a skintflint, but it is the principle!!). I have Multiroom already so will be interesting to see if I have to pay the £30.

£49 for the box is a good deal (free install too) but I grudge paying the £9.75 per month for the HD Subs.

I think i'll leave it for a while yet & see if they do away with the extra subscription costs.
And i just realised the £9.75 does not get you HD movies, so i am wondering if i can cancel my standard definition movie pack, and only have HD movies, keeping the cost the same as it is now..anyone know?
Unless you subscribe separately to the Movies or Sports package, you will not get the HD version in your HD subs. I subscribe to Movies but not Sports, so the HD sports channels are not available to me.

New series of Grand Designs on C4 HD (also Location +2 if you like that)
New Series of Lost of Sky HD
Hustle BBC HD

All we need now is Top Gear in HD!

Don't forget to look at the Sky Anytime service - quite often there's HD stuff in there I wouldn't notice that is quite good - like the original Italian Job a couple of weeks back - one of the best non-HD film to HD conversions I've ever seen.

I would love to get Sky HD but I cant get my head around spending £70 a month for TV for all the channels I would want. Do you still have to pay extra for the premium games like Man U Chelsea etc....?

I spotted a post over on avforums & the content of it hadn't occured to me before. The extra £9.75 per month to get the HD channels is just like adding any other package of channels to your subscription - i'd always looked at it as paying the 9.75 "just" for HD.

I might now see if the Mrs can be persauded.

For anyone who is a new customer, Quidco are currently offering £100 cashback if you use their link to sign up and you can use it in conjunction with the Sky deal.

I'm not sure what you mean but the HD sub only allows you to view the HD channels associated to your existing Subscriptions. So the more you subscribe to the better value the HD sub is.

If you don't subscribe to Movies or Sports adding an HD sub will not allow you to view HD movies or Sports.

However it does give you Discovery HD and the like, even if you don't have the package that goes with them. The only HD channels where you need the underlying package are the Sky Sports and Sky Movie channels.

Just registered on line with no problems. For existing customers the box is £49. As I don't have multiroom or SKY+ there is an additional set up fee of £30 which I fought tooth and nail to get out of, as the offer is silent as to this and I have paid into sky for 12 yrs, but to no avail . Presumably this is for the installer going up a ladder to run another cable from the dish. I also downgraded my package and when doing so, they tried their utmost by throwing various offers at me, to keep some of the channels I no longer wanted.

Registered online yesterday, and got a nicely friendly text from Sky saying I could order when I wanted... Couldn't order as the site didn't recognise me - even though it did 24hours previously frown

You can however order via your TV, which I did and surprisingly, it worked fine smile I even got the free month offer...

Under 'interactive' somewhere is the option to order SkyHD - roll on friday smile

I just ordered an upgrade for my south coast place. Current package includes Sky+ box, with all the main channels, and then a standard Sky box with all the channels again (multiroom). Cost is £55.75 per month.

I am having the Sky+ box moved to where the standard box is now, and a new HD+ box placed where the + box was. An extra feed is being run from the dish (to give + services to the bedroom). All-in this is costing £29 for the box, with no installation fee (as I have, and will continue to have, multiroom). My monthly fee is going up by £9.75 to account for the HD package.

I should point out that the website is not fully updated yet, so you have to go through Sky customer services to get the deal. It's also a bit of a pain as they 'claim' (at first) that they can't match the offer for telephone upgrades...it doesn't take too long for them to change their minds.

It's a month waiting list to get it all sorted and installed though frown

OOh, ta for that!

1st attempt just failed as i didn't have a phone line plugged in. The box now is not registering the fact that i have now plugged it in..

I have powered down the box for a minute with the phone line connected and it still thinks there is no phone line..
On the plus side, it comes up with a special phone number to call if you don't have a phone line connected.
Unfortunately though, that phone number is out of service.

I don't think they want me to upgrade.
