Consider the two headlines:
'More expensive HDMI cables aren't really that much better unless you are running long lengths' and:
'Expensive TV cables are a ripoff"
You can guess the second will get a lot more interest and suffices their need. However, the first is actually the more accurate result of their testing.
I also have to question their testing techniques, especially with regard to how they are comparing TOSLINK cables. With digital cables you are really only going to see the performance difference at the very top end of the market when you are trying to eek out the last 10%. At least in the hi-fi world that is well known.
Their test to 'prove' that TOSLINK cables are a 'ripoff' is to play an unstated audio CD in a unstated DVD player through an unstated AV amp through unstated speakers.
Nice headline, but a definitive test? Not even close.
