Sony products from that era always looked so classy, form the bottom end right to the top end they looked good.
Agreed. they exuded some classThe tuners were superb with an ability to grab stations that others couldn't

So you wrapped the ATC's in car vinyl? Really like it!I have a SCM40 / C3C / SCM11 setup (albeit boxed up in storage as I'm living abroad mostly). Although the cherry veneer is really nice, the white gives it quite a nice contemporary look.
Was it a difficult job?
My set-up pre boxing up (sorry for low light, pic is from quite a few years and phones ago...). Not the biggest room, but that is Amsterdam city center apartments for you.
Set at the time consisted of:
- Squeezebox Touch with Vortexbox based server for Logitech Media Server
- Some pretty generic media player (think is was a Mede8er MED400x), with an UnRaid media server.
- A pretty generic Sony Blu-Ray player
- Marantz AV7005 processor
- Parasound HCA2205AT power amp.
- ATC SCM40 / C3C / SCM 11 speaker.
- Paradigm Servo 15 subwoofer
- LG60PK250 plasma

Honestly its so easy to do, I posted a how to on the Pink Fish Forum many years ago
The only thing I'd do differently now is to remove the front black panel
and wrap under it just to get a better finish
ps nice system

I've recently relocated back to the UK and although sonos provided a decent enough solution in Asia, it simply doesn't cut it compared to proper hi-fi.
I'm still unsure if I like the NAD amp or not. It does what is says on the tin but I don't like the lack of (proper) bass and treble adjustment. I was trying to find an all in one solution that I can play my records through and also FLAC but I've no doubt compromised as a result. However the amp I got for a very good price off ebay so if I have to punt it on it's no biggie. The speakers and turntable were new and aren't going anywhere. Both I am very happy with so far.

this is what i love about HiFi, IMO its such a broad church.
this set-up is 100% different from my own in every single way apart from it plays music! But i look at it and think 'yeah, that's really cool!'
those speakers are insane!
Cheers. I've just had a look at your system and the Linn Kans are the other speakers I was looking at last year when I decided to replace my old Meridian Actives. I finally settled on the Spendor's as an old sound engineer was selling them locally. I love the Naim sound too and often find myself searching for it on Ebay. The 70's Sony receiver I have sounds fantastic though, built during the great receiver wars where money was no object.this is what i love about HiFi, IMO its such a broad church.

There's very little that I enjoy more than loading up the log fire on a cold winters night, pouring myself a little scotch and sitting back listening to this system.

My little vintage system with the addition of a streamer.
Thorens TD160 Super, SME II 3009 Series II tonearm with Ortofon Red 2M cartridge
Marantz NA6006 network streamer
Sony STR-6800SD receiver
FX Audio Tube 01 pre-amp
Spendor BC1 speakers
Ah Spendor BC1's I've got 2 sets, 1 set is the powered version. I have bypassed the amps and drive them from a Denon amp. Just lovely. Mine need the cabinets refurbishing as they have been in the studio's at my old job and have various holes from brackets. PC system
Behringer something or other USB soundcard (for digital out)
Beresford Caiman II DAC
NAD D3020 Amp
DALI Zensor 1 Speakers (on stands with marble slabs underneath)
Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones
(If anyone is intered, the PC is an old i5 4690 with 16gb RAM, GTX980Ti, 500Gb SSD, 34" Acer X34A monitor).
I bought a better amp recently too (an XTZ A100 D3) which has proven to be an absolute powerhouse. This drives my Celestion A2s although I've just agreed to buy a pair of excellent-condition A3s so it'll be a wholesale system change over the last few months...
Here's my setup:
