Blue rays of old movies can be superb, and more impressive than the current crop of semi-artificial cgi'd movies - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is amazing, but the film I'm waiting to see is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - the fairly recent remastered version of the standard DVD was stunning, but the blue ray should be superb... not available yet though frown

We use the The Dark Knight. Even better with 7.1 and on a screen. Thats the first disc we ever play to a customer when we've finished an install and they are generally blown away woohoo

Is the ethernet port on the back of the G10 usable to stream ?
As Der said, it's the G15 with the ethernet connection, but because I've got myself a PopCorn Hour (google it!) I don't need an ethernet on the TV itself, just straight to the media extender (the popcorn hour).

I take it you don't do many Constant Image Height screen installations.....that aspect ratio change for the Imax scenes is bloody annoying (actually I just cropped it to 2.35:1 with my Lumagen so fk em. biggrin).

Ummmmm - is that when the screen goes 'full' without the bars at the top & bottom?

If so, The Dark Knight is the only film I've ever seen that happen with. Glad it's not only me.

Yes that's what I meant. There is another film coming up with this AR change, but I can't remember off hand what it is (IIRC it was something I wasn't bothered about anyway). I set up a 2.35:1 screen, as most BluRays I watch seem to be that format. For watching 16:9 content I just have to change a setting on my video processor so that the image 'fits' on the screen....it's a pain when it changes mid film though.

Apart from the excellent suggestions above, any recent/new releases worth taking a look at that show Blu-ray and HD to its full potential?

Depends if you're old enough to be a fan, but I bought the 'Police' concert BluRay 'Certifiable' last week and the picture quality on my projector looks fantastic. I don't know if it's an optical illusion caused by the bright stage lights, but the blacks look really deep and the sharpness of the image is amazing. I haven't viewed it on my 40" TV but I expect it will look good on that too, plus it is 16:9 format so it will at least 'fill' the TV screen. It is recorded in 1080/60i format so that means you don't even need a newer TV with 1080/24p input to enjoy smooth motion.

I also got a Gary Moore Thin Lizzy tribute BluRay that had similar quality, but of course if you're not a fan of either then it's a pointless purchase (Gary Moore is an amazing guitarist IMHO).

No worries, I got them on Amazon BTW, cheaper than Play.com (my other prefered online supplier).
