Agreed,
My KDL40D3000 is set up with settings from a HDTV review site and it was really 'dim' and 'green' when I first starting watching it, but you get used to it and it actually looks really natural once you're not in the mindset of being blinded by standard settings.
I'm tempted to upgrade from my D3000 but it's really nice for an LCD...

the full HD Blueray demo I saw on a 50 inch LED screen was amazing.
better than anything Ive seen on plasma- so far.
But will the SD be that much worse?
Where did you see said demo?better than anything Ive seen on plasma- so far.

I was in a PC World not long ago and they had all the set technologies next to each other, making a big song and dance about the brilliance of LED.
It was bloody obvious that the LED had its colours set to 11 to look good under store lighting, the LCD about halfway and the Plasma set correctly but it looked washed out as a result (as it would under harsh blue lighting).
It was also, surprise surprise, displaying a static image.
Get yourself off to a specialist dealer, ask if they have calibrated sets you can look at to make a proper comparison.
Plasma is still king because it's innately superior at displaying a moving image. The facts are clear, measurable and obvious.
But, yes not too sure about colours etc.
cheers, thats all I wanted to know- Im sticking to what ive got-

Ah right, so the most superior transfer to date (Dark Knight)
Did they follow it up with a couple of Pixars?
If you're not completely convinced, get a VHS and transfer it to DVD and take that in.

Still Im wondering if the more HD content there is on normally telly then would it be worth it?
Whats a standard HD sky movie like or BBC HD on the LED?
Have ended up going Panasonic plasma and am pretty pleased.
What sealed it for me was the fact that the area I live in does not yet have Freeview and I have no intention of paying for Sky HD. As a result, SD picture quality was key - and there doesn't seem to be any/much argument that SD on Plasma is superior to LCD.
One thing that annoys me about the Pana is that I have to switch it to AV for it to pick up my Sky box signal - even my 6 years old Sony CRT would automatically jump to the AV input when the sky box was taken off standby.
Need to dig into the owners manual to see if it is possible to default to AV.

It's in the settings, are you using Scart? Make sure the Skybox is set to scart switching. Also make sure it is outputting RGB. They do, check the scart is plugged in squarly, also check pin 8 hasnt been pushed in and hat scart switching is turned on in the sky menu. Also you can make the TV power up in AV mode but only if the SCART is connected properly, look for 'Power ON Preference' then switch it AV. Instead of powering up to its tuner it will go directly to what ever av device is ACTIVE, if no devices are active then it will still power up to its tuner, it decides what is active by looking at Pin 8 on the scarts and if there is an active data on any of the HDMI's.What sealed it for me was the fact that the area I live in does not yet have Freeview and I have no intention of paying for Sky HD.
