Has anyone during an upgrade got rid of the phone and copper wire broadband and upgraded to their full fibre fttp service?
Been hanging on while fibre has been installed down our road, been taking forever. Released last week.
Presumably there's a different router needed, and would our existing TP Link mesh system plug into that or do we have to replace that as well?
The visit will take place in two stages, Openreach will first fix the property with a new drop wire / underground wire and install a grey joint box on the outside of the house called the CSP. Depending on your area then either a sky engineer or another Openreach engineer will attend to run a cable from the CSP drill through the wall and install an ONT (the modern equivalent of the phone socket) Your hub will plug into this (has to be the stand up black hub 4.2 with the phone socket on the back) and your phone will plug into this as there’s no phone point on the ONT.Been hanging on while fibre has been installed down our road, been taking forever. Speed can be anything up to 500mb with sky (BT offer 950MB but only the most hardcore of users would need anything near this) but the reliability will be far better as the infrastructure is all new
