Make sure your room is big enough in relation to screen size, ie: 46" you need to be sat about a good 10'+ away. For an avarage size room a 40 or 42 would be plenty.
You sure? We sit 10ft from a 50" 1080p screen for movies and 6ft (on a gamer chair) for games. Feels about right and according to all the tables i'd be missing detail by sitting further back.

Agreed, I did a LOT of homework on this.I'm sitting (eye to screen) 121" from a 60" plasma viewing through HD, and it's perfect now.

Glad i got it right! My option was to watch TV down the length of the room as we used to with a 36" crt but that was well over 15ft - so we now watch across the width at 10ft and its fine. We would have needed a crazy big TV at 15ft or fore-go the point of HD1080p
