...but not really now..frownfrownfrown

This morning my lovely 11 year old 32in CRT Toshiba went bang (or rather phut.). It has served me very well over its life and it has come as a complete surprise as it has showed no signs of any faults up til now.

However it couldn't have come at a worst time for The Toad as I'm currently err.. between jobs... and funds are extremely short to put it mildly. However my lovely Mum has come to the rescue and has said she will supply up to £500.00 for a new one (to be paid back at a later date.)

So I will throw myself on the PH massive as to recommendations as after only a few hours of browsing round various sites my head is spinning. Here are my requirements;

Budget: £500.00 and no more.

Wants:
Needs to have good sound. Current system had built in 5:1 with seperate rear speakers and an extra sub which I should be able to use again. I like that kind of noise when I'm watching a film.
Needs to be at least 32in. Not really fussed if its any bigger than that but I have enough room and I guess the bigger, the better?
Only needs to take in DVD and Sat system. Not a gamer at the moment nor likely to be in the foreseeable future.
Would like to be able to put my computer into it but thats not the top priority.
If it has built in Freesat that would be nice as the Sky subscription may soon have to bite the dust.

No Need!:
3D. Couldn't be less bothered.
Built in Freeview. We have to have internal ariels at the flat and it can't pick up the signal. However we all have a shared dish so good reception is not an issue.

All thoughts gratfully recieved. smilesmilesmile

Take a look on Richer Sounds or Digital Direct, plenty of choice for the money upto a 42" telly and you may even have enough change for a new surround system if you cant use yours.

I have an LG 37" LCD bought from our friend Deristrictor on here 4 years ago and never had a problem with it, great picture. Panasonics get good reviews but are going to be at the top of your budget.

Value for money choice, look at Toshiba.

Had one for a a good few years, not too flashy but it gets the job done at the right price.
