My 42G10 arrived - hurrah - but what to do with ethernet?
Discussion
Hello one and all
My panasonic 42G10 arrived from Mr Der on Saturday morning, over the moon with it (watched GP and Blu-ray on it last night!), well chuffed.
Anyhow, on investigation it has an ethernet connection on the back of it, but I can't work out what I can do with it? Sounds an odd thing to say - I don't think the 42G10 has the DLNA stuff like the superior models - so what use is the ethernet connection? The TV will be very close to my network hub for the house so to connect it up will be a piece of cake, if there's any value in it?!
Thanks all

RTFM
I, quite genuinely, have! With the GP on last night I sat down with big new manual in hand excited to learn about all the posibilities. And while I could find loads of stuff about the VIERA button and the Q_Link feature (which basically connects other panasonic devices like DVD players easily) I couldn't find anything that simply said "with the ethernet you can XYZ".
So it's likely just the firmware upgrade, then? While not exactly exciting, I'll still plumb it in then as it's so close.
Urmmm, thanks everyone - glad that's cleared it up
The 42G10 is a plasma, and came highly recommended from many on here - I've not really upgraded from anything significant so it's more of an outright buy, but I'm over the moon with it so far (admittedly, only played with it for couple of hours though).

One thing that worries me is the (perceived) poor quality SD pictures available. When considering a lot of stuff is still broadcast in SD (eg F1 etc). Is this so or is it down to set up?
Anyone care to comment please - this is driving me mad.
You should, of course, listen to Derestrictor 1000 times more intently than to me - I come at this as something of an A/V newbie. I've certainly not looked at the SD performance of the 42G10 (plumbed in through HDMI of V+ box) and thought "that's terrible", however I didn't think it looked particularly good either. First thing I did was play a blu-ray through my 42G10 and then I really did think "WOW" - that made it very much worth it!
So, from a lamen's point of view, it doesn't look great but it doesn't look terrible - it's such a different experience from a 28" CRT though that I don't think you'll EVER think it was the wrong decision
