Since my Yamaha amplifier has started to give up the ghost, and all of my speakers are looking a bit dated, I'm looking at replacing my surround sound system.

I'm not really up to speed on my audio equipment, so was after a quick opinion from any of you lot that know what you're talking about.

I was thinking of an Onkyo TSXR508:

And a set of Pioneer speakers.

Opinions?

Found the HTS6305 system online last night, and am going to pick it up from my local Richer Sounds in a little while. Seems a bargain compared to others.

Bit of a mismatch really, some old Heybrook Solos at te front and some really tatty old satellite speakers, matched up to a Yamaha sub, sounds ok, when the amp is working, but it was time to get a new system, which I have done. Moving into a new place on friday, so will wait until then to get it all set up.

Had a demonstration in the shop (admittedly with higher range stuff than I actually bought) and it was worlds apart in sound quality and general atmosphere from what I've had for the last 8 years.

Bear in mind, all of my audio equipment was 2nd hand when I bought it in 2003.
