Right the last thread got closed, so no blame but let's try and keep this on topic.

Their is apparently a new prontoedit out I think its version 3 I think you have to be invited to have it officially and don't know how to go about arranging that. The original one was free so hopefully this version will be too.

Lots of files can be found on remotecentral but I am really struggling to find the code for the Panasonic g20, if anyone has them or knows where to find them it would be much appreciated.

I can kind of see where your coming from in that all you need is a touchscreen panel and some software plus an it sensor, but the way the hole remote can be made to work exactly how you want it to really is very good.
There are cheaper alternatives which are still touchscreen remotes, but in my experience (all 4 one mosaic) it was virtually unusable as certain functions could only be placed in certain positions on the screen.

If you have tried one and hold this view then fair enough, but of you haven't download the software and a set up, you can then have a play through Tue simulator function and hopefully you will see why they really are good value.

You should be able to pick up a 980/990 for about £180 looking on eBay, for the more pentablet style ones they were about £800-1000 new so would guess around £400 now.
This is going from eBay though were a lot of the 980s are being sold either with problems are the old its my exes so can't guarantee it, when I was thinking about selling mine I had lots of interest around this figure, which made me think o had priced it low.

Hope this kind of helps.
