TVR Car Club Cadwell Trackday - 21st Sept
Discussion
Indeed a great day.
Perhaps three next year? Two at Cadwell and one at Anglesey (as part of a mini tour)?
Drive home was eventful. Caught up with Peter's truck and trailer having stopped for fuel and taken a more country roads route back to the A16. Then caught Anthony's (Precat) softroader and trailer on the A14. A quick note that your trialer lights weren't working!
Finally got home at 5am. Alternator was dying most of the way (showing 12.8V charging most of the way). Slowly dropped and I hoped to get home but it went from 10.5V just inside the M25 to 8V on the sliproad between A12 and North Circular. 20-mins from home. Recovery took 8.5-hours.
Still didn't take the edge of a great day. Was all over the shop at the begining of the day but was back in my [lowly] groove by the afternoon.
The internal fuel hose connection came off the flow pipe which was brilliantly diagnosed by Mr Smith the TVR Tickler. For some reason TVR didn't flare either end of the flow or return pipes, plus the in tank side of the flow is about 30mm long. As I was using fuel clips instead of clamps I swapped the flow and return around. The intank return pipe being 75mm long. Fitted an additional jubilee clip that Mr Smith had in his kit for good measure.
I have a couple of spare alternators so will fit one this weekend.
Looks like I'll join Peter at Brands in November and possibly in October if I don't do a Wales tour.
