The Gredge Match
Discussion
Gredge Match (Griff v Wedge - Long Marston 1/4: 5th-6th Sept)
Why? Here's why:
The Griff Growl has evolved into an excellent and established annual event within the TVR calendar (some of you Wedgers have been along). A lot of hard work goes into the event by the organisers who are always welcoming of feedback to improve upon a recognised format that keeps 99% of attendees very happy. One or two had suggested somehow making it a little more amenable to the female element; one or two had suggested there could be more activity. The latter has always been catered for, and would involve the former, but tends to be weather dependent (as is my proposal). The last two years have been wet.
With this in mind; I contacted Shakespeare County Raceway (SCR) about getting a contingent of 'Griffy Gals' up the quarter mile should GG09 be on a compatible weekend. For reasons manifold this thought was shelved. Subsequent to this however there had been talk of combining the BBWF and GG; it's still not beyond the realms of possibility at this time?? With a possible association, this gave rise to the potential of a spin-off event in the name of both GG and BBWF, perhaps even generating some funding for our shared charities??
The 5th/6th of September is a RWYB weekend but SCR have been in support of the proposal promising our own camping area and pit lane. I'm sure they'll do all they are able to help us make it a hoot.
Based upon your thoughts I'll either let the notion die or get something off the ground . . . . . . .
Why? Here's why:
- It's for fun (seriously)
- It's a social (even if it's rained off)
- Our own on-site camp area
- Our own pit lane
- Looking to perhaps generate some local charity funding
- Hoping to get some video footage
- Wedge Women? Griff Gals? Big emphasis here!
- There's some hot machinary and big numbers in both camps: put it through the rubber!

Lets put it to the test then! Bear in mind the intention was for a bit of a lark with good intentions attached. And I know how quick an Aramid wrapped 450 is; likin' those. Perhaps the likes of Steve Heath would grace us with the presence of his Blown Wedge. We'll see.
I put a link to this thread in the Griffy Forum but it dissapeared?? . When that's re-established I'll let the thread run a short while before polling for probables.

Come on guys, I know you're a firey and competitive lot; wanna get this off the ground. And just so you can keep an eye on the Griffy perspective:

O.k, so we're off to a slow start here (no pun intended);
some chit chat and a bit of provocation.
With us both having our shared/respective big meets mid year, I reckon it'd be a shame to miss something in the calendar for the end of it. A good opportunity to catch up again and put all the Rolling-Road numbers to the test of the pilot, plus maybe manage some charity funding.
Dig out the tent, the 'Primus' and the old 'Stadium' lid and give me an idea of whether or not you're a 'Probable'. Come on, buck-up!
This isn't conscription but let me be presumptious with:

Right, this is in the SCR calendar (website to be updated) so it's a goer. Put it in your diary, sort yer motors out and spread the word; the more the merrier.
Based upon the above, perhaps the Mod's could make this Post a 'Sticky'.
I have a couple of idea's in mind for the weekend and I'll update the thread with stuff as it becomes relevant.

Any chance of sneaking a lowly Chim in on this?
Hi Derek (YHM)The original idea was for this to be solely Griffs v Wedges, however: Big Rob Pack (Cotswold Three Counties TVRCC RO:- see Sprint) is organising a TVR 1/4 Bash over the same weekend at SCRW. I'm expecting our camps will be annexed and for the RWYB weekend to be TVR dominated.
As soon as the Griff Growl has passed I've gotta come back to this thread and give it a bit of a push and update all who are interested.
The event hasn't died and neither have I; I've just been busy with the Growl and sorting out the Griff (I'm still attending to the latter).
I'll be concentrating on this now and trying to generate some fresh interest in the Wedge and Griff forums. We're in the SCRW website events and I'm hoping to get our camp annexed with that which Big Rob Pack will have for his Three Counties TVR 1/4 mile (organised through the TVRCC).
This should be a TVR dominated weekend.
I've just mailed a few questions to SCRW regarding the weekend and when I have the answers I'll come back and put them here.

Will there be a few camping on the Saturday night?
Im at Roar for the rolling road then have a BnB booked near Shakey for an early start on the Sunday.
Just wondering if it might be more fun to camp with some fellow tivvers.

I'm sure hoping so! I'm wanting to have the Vango up Friday night ready for an early start Saturday; I hope there may be others along Friday night too. I'm awaiting a reply from SCRW on one or two matters and as soon as I have that then I'll update this thread. Time's drawing near and I need to get a shimmy-on.
Make sure you come over and talk.
Update
And as said previously: I hope we'll be annexed alongside Big Rob Pack and his bunch from the TVRCC Cotswold Three Counties for a Top TVR Tear-up.
And I don't wanna be blamed if I've missed anything so peruse this: http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/rwyb.asp

Oh Lord in Heaven . . . Give us the Weather!
- For those travelling for on-site Friday night camping (me) then the gates open at 6pm. As far as I'm aware, this is only available for those purchasing a weekend ticket. I'll get back to SCRW if there are those attending Saturday only but have a long journey and wanna camp.
- Beer and BBQ's are o.k, open fires are not.
- There is an on-site bar which is open Saturday night until late (you can spout your 18 second, sub-80 mph excuses here).
- There are Toilets and Showers for the cleanly.
- Pay on entry. Admission: £12/£22 (Day/Weekend) per Spectator. £20/£35 per Competitor; there's paperwork to be signed on entry and the issue of scrutineering passes and wrist-bands. I'm sure there will be mechanism for stating your 'Gredge Match' association so the SCRW can keep track of/promulgate our Camp progress.
- If you have video recording gear (bullet-cams etc (me)) then bring it and grab some footage. This of course will need to get through scrutineering so it must be secure (Gaffa tape/Ty-wraps etc).
- If you're bringing fuel cans; make sure you're sensible about their stowage and handling; if you have fire-extinguishing equipment then bring that too.
- There are prizes (very small), one of which I've bought (and you can drink), the other I have made (and will look good in the attic)
- I'm still intending to get something raised for the Area Air Ambulance. The simplest thing for me to do is bring a 'Tin' along; if you wanna put something in it (like money) then do so. I won't be chasing anyone up if they're not inclined.
- An approved helmet.
- Gloves + clothes that cover your arms and legs if you're driving open-topped.
- Your driving licence. (If you or your car are looking like a 'shed' then you may also be asked for proof of insurance and a MOT cert'.
- A dry car; if it's depositing fluids then it wll be pulled and precious race time will be wasted with strip clean-up.
