Event: TVR class drag racing at York raceway on Easter Sunday 12th April.

York raceway has agreed to create a dedicated TVR only class on Easter Sunday.

All TVR owners are invited to come along either to spectate or join in the fun and run their pride and joy up the ¼ mile. A timing slip will be given for each run with your reaction time, time to 60ft, 1/8 mile and mph, ¼ mile and mph. Yet to confirm but there may be a 0-60mph camera set up so you can settle those bar room arguments.

Basically all you need to do is turn up with a helmet and driving licence, sign on, get in the queue and put your foot down when the light goes green.... simple. More details will be given before the event.

Admission is £10 and track fees are £25 for the day.

As this is the first meeting this year it should be relatively quiet and there should be plenty of track time. I’ve had a dozen runs in a day at meetings last year.
It has to be the best way to find out how your car performs and a trophy will be awarded to the quickest ET on the day.

See clips here for a little taster....

Glad to see you're bringing the video camera Kevin.
Some good clips from last year.
I should have a mate filming all the action as well as my in car shots.
I could also lend out my camera and windscreen mount to anybody that wants a souvenir clip on the day.

Cam...yes please ! smile

I've booked a rolling road session a couple of weeks in advance. wink

Now need some gear changing practice. driving
I hope to get mine on the rolling road too, if only to compare the track numbers with the power output.
Also good gear changes and a slick non-wheelspinning launch off the line can make up the difference of a much more powerful car.
If you are interested in what times you may be aiming for enter your details in this calculator... suprisingly accurate...

As I said above I will be taking stills and video at the Raceway, previously Derek and myself have put footage on our Youtube sites, if anyone does not want this of their car then please let me know on the day, I will still film everyone but will not post the footage of your car, however you can still have the footage of your car running down the strip for your own use if you wish, just let me know and I will sort something out.
Cheers Kev,
+1 on my part. Any footage will only be put on youtube with the permission of the owner.

ps i got my car running after various modifications, just needs a check up and a few more minor jobs before the big day.

Do we have to drive miles up to the 'competitors entrance', or take a short cut through the top of the spectators' car park ?
Its not that much further to the pit area bt im sure if you went through the spectators car park someone would open the gate to let you through. I did this by mistake at my 1st meeting!
Anyone running there car should bear right at the entrance and get in the queue for scrutineering at the far top end of the it area (this is where you come in at so cannot miss it).
After getting your 'pass' card head to the tower to sign on and get your race number.
Then come find me for a chat and a brew.

Dam, I thought I might mention that on here, just talking to Mark today and he told me he is going, there might be some competition for you there Derek.
The cerberas and tuscans are always competition with a lot more power.
I just hope they struggle for traction off the line and dont catch me before the finish line.
My terminal speeds only 113 and ive seen Cerberas hitting 125+, ie they should be running quicker.
If your not running track tyres then at least lower the tyre pressures on the day.
The difference in grip is suprising

I'll be trailering my car up, where should I go to unload it? Joint the queue as posted above or go to whatever competitor paddock there is and unload then join the queue?
The scrutineering queue is positioned that you can join it as you arrive, or you can find a place in the pits, unload your car then take it to the queue to make sure it can turn left and right and stop basically.
York will be designating an area of the pits just for TVRs so all you need to do is spot them and park there.
Maybe Graham has a flag he can put up

Only 3 weeks to go and ive just ordered a new clutch just in case.
I attempted a 'spirited' getaway in the Chim last week, the clutch was out, my heal was on the brake , the engine roared but i didnt move.
Yes i know im an idiot but im glad i discovered the clutch might have been the weak link.
A john Eales 500lb/ft organic clutch is on its way to be fitted next week.

At least i will be able to launch hard at York.
See you there.

Planning to come and watch. Hope to be there around lunchtime.
You can join in the fun anytime if you like Simon.
Once you have seen how easy and relaxed it all is then you will be running to get the T350 scrutineered and in the queue.

Latest on my car.... clutch is going in as we speak... BUT the fuel rail has decided to leak prefusely from just above injector number 6.
Im guessing the o-ring has let go.

Looks like the wedgers are getting competetive.

136db yikes
Mines probably still under 100 with the pre-cats out and a semi-sleeved box.
230 bhp should help produce decent 1/4 times.
I had 230 at the wheels a couple of weeks ago and 294 with the nitrous.
If the clutch and fuel leak are sorted tomorrow then i hope to tweek a few things to get more from the gas.
Savings weights always a good idea... dont leave your tools and pies in the boot!
