Total Recall remake!
Discussion
What on earth are they thinking?
From the cast it looks maybe like a more 'thinking' Total Recall than an action film with some thinking bits in it.
Fingers crossed they add far more twists/turns into it and don't make it really bad.
What I am worried more by is Robocop in 2013... they are starting to remake films that were already very good now. They were not exactly in black and white, or lacking in visual effects, or modern filming/storytelling techniques.
Bit weird since there have been some great creative films out over the last few years...

Meh, it was gash anyway. Fun in a 'oh my god this cheesefest is awful' way, but gash nonetheless.
I don't mind remakes if they're adding something new, like Star Trek which was pretty good and put the series on a new time-line meaning they've got lots of creative freedom, or something like True Grit which did a pretty good job of keeping faithful to the original and letting the actors and directors do a good job of putting their own stamp on a good story, but there's too much crap getting rehashed now.

They say Hollywood has run out of original ideas but you know what I have atleast 6 solid original ideas.
1. You don't, most stories can be broken down into a basic element of which there are a few and those underpin all movies/theatre etc2. Sell them to the movie makers then!!

Thing is, why remake Total Recall so closely. Why not re-imagine it with new characters and places and things...
I'll remain open minded for now... but it's a good 50:50 that it'll either be a new take and really interesting (but why call it Total Recall and not something new then, to stop it being compared), or it'll be horrible.

I agree, it should most definiately be made into a movie with a new premise. Basically a high budget sequel should be in order. Why not re-imagine it with new characters and places and things...

I don't want to upset you, but Robocop was nearly twenty five years ago.Horrifying where that time has gone. I remember going to see it at the London Film Festival and thinking it was the absolute nuts.
