ThunderCats is an upcoming American animated television series executive produced by Sam Register, and produced by Ethan Spaulding and Michael Jelenic based on the original characters created in 1985 by Tobin "Ted" Wolf. It is produced by Warner Bros. Animation with animation provided by Japanese animation studio Studio 4°C. The series is a reboot of the 1985 television series of the adventures of a group of cat-like humanoid aliens living on a refugee planet that they call Third Earth, and Lion-O's ascension to the Thunderian throne. The new series will begin with an hour long premiere on Cartoon Network on July 29, 2011.

Ulysses 31, Jason and the Wheeled Warriors, Cities of Gold etc were all of their time stylistically speaking, so it's good to see that they have freshened up the look of the old ThunderCats show. I think it will be a success for CN because the concept for the original show was fairly original and it's still quite distinctive.

Occasionally the animation looks a little clunky, 2d animation is very labour intensive and I might be wrong but I think you can spot the scenes that have had more time invested by the storyboard and layout artists and consequently these are more consistent with quality usually achieved by the 'Manga' studio look they are going for. Saying that it was also noticeable on the original, the title sequence animation was superior in quality (not specifically frame rate but actual composition, anatomy / dynamic movement and more interesting 'camera' work) than the animation during the show, I imagine quite a bit of time was spent getting that title sequence to look right as it's what effectively sells the show to the viewer.

Looks a bit anime to me. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it put me in mind of 90s classics like Akira, and Fist of the North Star.

Cheetara is in my top ten of all time female cartoon characters that I'd sleep with...

Cities of gold was superb

The Real Ghostbusters was way ahead of its time - very satirical and funny...

I'd happily see a remake of these! even at 38!

Mumra the ever living reminds me of the mother in law

rofl

Although I believe the actress providing the voice for Cheetara in the new version is:

Much more pleasing on the eye, I think you'll agree.
