At last its coming to the uk was watching it in the states earlier this year but ive been waiting for it to come here. its good for anyone that likes guns. Basically they do custom guns and restorations etc so they spend the episode rebuilding modifying etc then go and shoot st up tbh its a good mindless 30 mins. should be on discovery.
I'm loving this. Got it series linked.
Re that chap who wanted a gun there and then...I expected him to make a bit of a fuss and the daughter to lean over and punch his lights out for being rude! Cool girl, in a really scary deep south kind of way!
Almost as cool as the old flame thrower geezer! He knew how to get the japs out of that pretend pill box! What a scary thing though.

I love this show for the entertainment it is, however I am confused by a couple of things.
1. Getting a suppressed shotgun down to 140 odd decibels doesn't seem that quiet to me.
2. Same with the AK47. Are these things unfeasibly loud before hand?
3. What is the market for a suppressed assault rifle? The bloke who asked them to do it was described as a Law Enforcement Firearms Officer (or similar). What agency needs a not awfully quiet AK47?
4. Same with the Katana Assault Rifle, who does the guy sell lightweight assault rifles too?

Love this show!
I'm not a gun nut, glad we have such controls in the UK etc, but I find it really interesting.
I already knew the Hollywood version of a 'silencer' really doesn’t exist, but they're still cool. If I recall the guy who wanted a suppressed shotgun wanted one simply because he'd seen 'No Country' and wanted one, no harm in it I guess. The shop owner set himself a target of sub 140 decibels, whilst not quiet, is the level they say it's safe to use without ear protectors.
Haven’t seen the AK47 one, it's recorded for tonight.
P.S. I'd hit the daughter like a flying tank, weird 'extra tooth' included, and then run far, far away.

That depends on where and how they measure the sound level, so it's meaningless really. In reality, a well made suppressor can make a massive difference, but it also depends on the type of gun and other factors as to how quiet you can get it.
You would really not believe how quiet it's possible to make a .308 bolt action rifle, for instance. It does also reduce recoil, so there are more benefits than stealth alone.
Not seen this program yet but this thread has got me interested enought to track it down. I already knew that the whisper quite assualt rifles in movies was a myth but how does this bear in relation to silenced pistols and sub machine guns like Mp5's etc. Are these all made up too?
On a side note, I know it's only a game but I love the fact that in Battlefiled 3 you can put a silencer on any gun, up to and including the huge belt fed machine guns!

I'm lead to believe a .22 pistol can be made 'almost Hollywood quiet' but if the shotgun is anything to go by, it seems almost pointless from a stealth point of view, but pretty much reduces the noise from a huge bang that could possibly deafen you, to one that probably wont. But you wouldn’t be sneaking into the informant’s house late at night and double tapping him with a 9mm without waking up his wife sleeping next to him, that’s for sure!
I’m pretty sure there’s a well replied thread somewhere on PH from a Gun enthusiast from the US somewhere that explains suppressors pretty well.
