How many of us genuinely don't watch any TV?
Discussion
It's one of these things that lots of people claim, that they don't ever watch TV, but I suspect most are telling slight fibs. Personally I'd like to be able to say I never waste my time watching TV, but to be honest, while I never set out to watch it and never switch it on, if I'm in the room and there's a TV on, I'll usually end up watching, I find it quite addictive once I start.
My brother doesn't have a TV, purports to hate it, but if he visits me or my Mum, the TV goes on and he's engrossed in minutes. I suspect this is the case with a lot of TV haters?

I have a TV but do not have a aerial or satellite. I never watch Live TV unless I go to my parents place as it's always on there just in the background making noise...
At home, I will watch downloaded movies and specific tv shows that interest me all downloaded from online places like iTunes etc... I only watch the stuff I want and don't waste time looking for something to watch for the sake of time wasting.

I think you may struggle to find people who genuinely don't watch TV on a TV, Film and Radio forum, you'll mostly get:
1- Militant TV haters who claim they never watch it, because it rots your brain and will make you stupid, they only read and hike in the mountains - AKA lairs.
2- People who watch TV programs on other screens.
I don't think you'll find many people who just don't care for it in here, but then they rarely have such a chip on their shoulder that they'll go out of their way to rant and rave about it, which is a shame - I'm dying to know what they point all their furniture at

I watch some live TV, but no where near what I used to and when F1 disappears from terrestrial it will be even less.
With the advent of the likes of Netflix and Amazon, download TV and torrents live TV is dying.
However, what surprises more so is how little kids watch it. Mine is permanently glued to Youtube, but hardly ever watches live TV.
Makes you wonder where live TV is heading.

I rarely watch live TV anymore. When I get home from work I tend to cook, play on the PS, put music on or get out and about with the family. When I do watch TV it tends to be later on in the evening and it will be a box set or a a couple of episodes of series I've Sky plussed.
I do have musician friends who don't own a television.

Our TV rarely gets turned on to watch scheduled tv except to very occasionally watch the news, but even now I don't really do that, its all streamed on catch up if there is anything of note.
Think I watch about an hour a week at the moment, which is Game of Thrones currently! Watch more films than TV and tend to watch documentaries on the desktop computer.

Since the advent of Sky+ most commentators on such things starting saying the future was 'on demand'.For all but sporting events and breaking news it's already old-fashioned to watch TV live. Sky+ was the first big blow, but at first it was a better VCR, then came the series link function and now the download function, I think most Sky users are well past looking to see what's on - it's what's in the recorder.
Now all the major TV stations have a streaming facility, and you've got web-only providers like Netflix and Prime.
Personally as soon as fibre is available where I live or we move (neither will be longer than 6 months) I'll be ditching the Sky for £80 a month in favour of Apple TV with NowTV, Netflix and iPlayer et-al.

I don't have a TV, I'm not anti it, just found I didn't really have time for it and when I moved never got round to getting one (about 10 years ago).
My Fiancee has a TV, at her house, I reckon we will watch something about once a fortnight, either on TV, catchup or a film. We currently getting two houses into a decent selling state, so any free time goes there. She is also a nightmare to watch anything with as she just wants to chat through it!

I watch TV - clearly I'm not as good as some people

Personally I like having to wait a week to see how the story unfolds, although we do record a lot and watch it when it suits us during the week.
