Anybody watch it?

A host of great stand-up comedians rushed on and off stage so they could give time to knob-heads like Wossy, Gok Won and Jordan and an extended Lee Evans section (Ok if you like Mr Evans).

They spent more time with very average 'comedy' clips and gave the comedians less than 3 minutes each. I went to the toilet and missed Jo Brand entirely.

Why do they have to make everything 'showbiz' with talentless celebrities making walk-on appearances and wasting stage time? The Ruth Jones and Cordon sketch was embarrassing, like some A level drama sketch. We've seen all that rubbish on sport relief a few weeks ago.

It had all the potential of a great show and was spoiled for me by attempts to make it anything other than stand up. It was a comedy stand up show, so just show us stand up comedians working FFS.

I'd agree, I thought it was ruined by the lack of time the comedians were given, 3 minutes or so didn't seem to be enough for them to get into full flow. It would have been much better with fewer comedians/acts doing longer sets.

I turned off after a while but managed to catch Lee Evans at the end who was superb.

One funny bit was the Jimmy Carr 'Go Compare ball squeezing' advert.

It was disappointing. Why couldn't they have half the numbers of commedianes, get rid of the st and give each one more time.

Michael McIntyre and Jimmy Carr were the best bits. Mark Watson seemed like he forgot his lines.

EFA etc etc.

ETA - Does anyone actually find Jo Brand funny?

That was brilliant and hats off to the Go Compare lot for doing it, they should've done all advert breaks during the show like that. All the acts should've had 15 minutes or so each and ditched the sketches, James Cordon and Ruth Jones were painfully unfunny. Jason Manford should've definitely had more time.

On a side note, can someone explain how Shappi Khorsandi has become so popular?

One for the ladies I think, the other half was nodding away during the iPhone bit, which was pretty funny.

I gave up as the first few comedians appeared to just be repeating their "Live at the Apollo" stuff...

I have to say the celebrity cameos were absolutely dire. The Jordan one was terrible, but not nearly as bad as that Gavin and Stacey rubbish. The whole "We're looking for our seats, OMG we're on the stage!" wasn't funny back in Vaudeville and it's still not funny now. It was unwatchable. Not only badly written, but really, really badly acted. Almost as bad as the actual show they're from.

A lot of the comedians didn't get enough time on stage, although some had too much. Jo Brand and Jack Dee both recycled material from shows at least 5 years old, Mark Watson (who is usually very funny) recycled a joke from his tour last year, fluffed it up, then walked off. To be honest there was very little original material in the whole thing. Wish I hadn't bothered staying up for it to be honest.

Still, it was better than Sport Relief.

Agree with the comments over 3 minutes, a lot of the stand-up humour needs timing, slow presentation, comedy pauses etc, all adds to the mood, but sadly was missing from many of the acts. Still quite good though.

I missed this because I wanted to watch masterchef but also I saw that Jo Brand was in the lineup

Seriously how does she get stand up gigs? Probably the least funny person I've seen on TV, except maybe that Gina Yashere or Shappi what'shername.

It's very rare you see a female stand up who's funny.

It just confirmed to me that Michael McIntyre is an unfunny, wobbly-headed ct, who should just fk off before his 15 minutes of fame run out.
And stand still whilst on stage, you wker. Or is that a defence mechanism against the undoubted bottling you must have gone through at some time in your 'career'.

So it wasn't all bad then?!

As for other comediennes, regrettably, they're simply not funny. No idea why, but women just can't do stand-up.

There are a few exceptions - Lucy Porter, Nina Conti and Sarah Millican have all had good shows in the last couple of years. Millican may have been over-exposed on TV panel shows hawking the same jokes around, but she was funny on stage.

Lucy Porter - not funny. Used to be cute, grew out of that, still not funny.

Sarah Millican - not funny. Saying 'vagina' repeatedly has very limited scope. Her repertoire seems to end there.

Can't recall Nina Conti's act - ventriloquist? - so couldn't have been that funny biggrin

Bill Bailey's West Country Hip Hop - knocked everyone else out of the park; shirley the best part of the night.

Yep, that was very funny.

As for the others, well, it was a good job I had sky+'d it so I could FFWD through all the dross. And there was a LOT of dross. I agree the Go Compare 'advert' with Jimmy Carr was good, and the Liverpudlian that was taking about going to Robbie William's party was good.

I can't understand who keeps giving Jo Brand or Jack Whitehall work, and I'd rather stare at a blank wall that watch that waste of skin Corden. That Scottish guy - Kevin something - is crap in EVERYTHING i've seen him in. I hate Jonathan Ross so he got fast forwarded. Him out of the Mighty Boosh wasn't funny. The Derren Brown sketch was quite funny though.
