When did she learn English? Athelstan had to translate everything in the previous episode but now she understands everything?
They very quickly mentioned it at the beginning of an episode (forget which one). Blink and you'd miss it; she's gone from nothing to fluent very quickly indeed. To be honest though, it doesn't detract from the story; it was beginning to get in the way a little. I think up until then they handled the language wellTonyHetherington said:

True, but I was enjoying watching Athelstan having to translate everything. He looked really uncomfortable in parts Watched the finale today.
Really liked this episode. Ragnars a fkin' boss (he's probably my favourite character from all the T.V series' I'm watching at the minute). Can't believe it looks like Rolo is going to pull a Judas again. My only fault with it was the very end when Ragnar tells Floki he knows that he killed Athlestan and it ended. I thought Ragnar was going to shove a knife into Floki's kneck or something!
Interesting to see where they go with it now, will Ragnar recover or will they kill him off?

Wondered if there was a thread for this.....
Cracking show, in hindsight the first few episodes felt like 'filler' having watched the finale.
I find the fight scenes to be very well choreographed, brutal. The battles seems to have have grown in scale, I assume due to success budgets have increased.
They're quite loose at times on how historically accurate the creators/writers are but it makes for better TV I'd say.
Charles the Bald's way of defending against Viking raids I believe was to give land (Normandy?) to a Viking leader so they would defend Paris/France for him. I guess this is the way the show could go.

On the battle front, there's been ads for hundreds of extras for the next season of the show Cracking show, in hindsight the first few episodes felt like 'filler' having watched the finale.
