Last one tonight but hurrah! A new series of American Railroad journeys starts on Monday. I wonder what he'll wear for that?

I noticed that whilst he was standing in the middle of Grand Central Station in some comedy salmon/orange trousers, some younger bloke walked past in actually the same coloured outfit.

He son BBC 2 now. There he is looking dapper doing some train journeys talking about slaves and stuff. I think he's excellent.

I must admit I really enjoy his railway programmes and secretly admire the Jackets, my wife loves them too. He comes across as a real old school gentleman, in the true sense of the word.
Funnily enough I spotted him not so long ago in the Etihad business lounge at Heathrow, with what I assumed to be his PA, probably off on one of the shoots. If I recollect correctly his jacket then was quite muted which disappointed me somewhat as it wasn't one of the 'louder' ones I've come to associate him with.

I've heard him say that his outfits are deliberately....err... "loud" to make him more noticeable, for the same reason that tour guides usually wear bright coloured jackets.

I believe China is planned as an overseas one.

he was on top form last night

wearing a strong pair of orange slacks, that at one point matched perfectly with the carpet of the church he was in

he looked like a floating torso smile

great program, and a great presenter

Dark blue blazer with light stripes, sky blue shirt and turquoise trousers tonight in the Balkans, rare occasion I thought he'd had a wardrobe malfunction.

I love Portillo. Wonderfully camp style. Love his dress sense. He's a calm, assured, knowledgeable and personable presenter. Who would have thought he would have been a success?

Excellent summary of him. I couldn't stand him in politics, but now he's a thoroughly engaging character who gets the most out of the people he meets on his travels. And his jackets are superb smile

Just catching up with the new series. As much as I like his style, that red, checkered/pixelated thing he was wearing last week is a step too far!

It did seem a bit like the upholstery from a 1983 Leyland bus!

At least he didn’t wear it with those lurid yellow trousers.
