I was delighted to hear Rory got a place. There's some real talent there and he deserves a big break. How did he get just 70k views for this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd_6P_AQj6U
Wow! thanks for that. v8250 said:
Lord, this is going to be dull. Schmidt, Jordon and the Stig are the only ones who really know about cars, with only Schmidt and the Stig as seasoned drivers. The rest should never have been hired. I wish Evans much luck with the show and strongly suggest he drops Harris and Joey, both are there to make up the 'too many' numbers. As for the new chap, Rory...time will tell.
Evans and the BBC have really missed a trick with the new TG, they had/have the opportunity to turn the show into something very special. That won't happen with the above line-up unless they start showing some super special reports. It may be that TG has ran its course and the BBC would have been better finding another subject for the Sunday evening timeslot.
And Harris doesn't?Evans and the BBC have really missed a trick with the new TG, they had/have the opportunity to turn the show into something very special. Like him or not, he knows his stuff and clearly knows how to drive.

I'm going to call it now - he's the best thing on the show. Let's hope there's still a Top Gear left by the time Chris Evans gets bored. Though that sort of half rapping/half talking/rhyming thing isn't for me, at least its different and some real effort put in to make it all line up. I think, now I have seen more of him, that he will be the surprise of the show.

Must think different to others on here, I lasted couple of minutes and switched off. Cringetastic. Fortunately based on his 4c review that looks much more promising. Seriously that rap/poem/ode to a RR was hilariously bad.
Liking something and respecting it are two entirely different things. I'm no fan of rap, but I like to open my eyes to an alternative approach sometimes. Edited by RemyMartin on Thursday 11th February 22:57
I think Rory, Matt and Evans will be the core presenters of this.
Sabine and Harris have other commitments, and Harris has said he will continue with his youtube channel. I don't expect they'll have as much air time as the others.
So I think Sabine and Harris will do the serious car pieces (the big stuff like when a new Bugatti turns up), and the other 3 will do the news on the sofas, the entertainment/silly stuff etc.
EJ though, he doesn't fit in anywhere.

I'd never heard of Rory Reid before the post above but he looks like he could be fun:

Never heard of the guy then Ibe just seen that YouTube link. I think he could be the big surprise from this, seems to be funny and a bit cheeky with his presenting, he could be the one who goes on to do big things http://youtu.be/GPzkTKX_EXI

Eddie J is an ex racer so, I guess, pretty handy behind the wheel and not scared to call a spade a spade.
The trouble is he calls a spade a fork, and then spends 2 hours trying to cover up his mistake.I really hope they don't gag Monkey. Obviously he can't be as "adult" as on YouTube, but Top Gear seems to be totally tech phobic.
It all seemed lost when I heard Matt Leblanc was joining the line up and was confirmed when I heard his radio 2 interview with Chris Evans in which they were so far up each other it was unreal and ended with Leblanc saying he couldn't wait to smash up some cars with Evans. Not predictable then.
Sabine has a certain charm and Harris, although I haven't seen much of his stuff, seems very knowledgeable and expresses himself well and in an entertaining manner.
Eddie Jordan FFS. Well I suppose clown can be entertaining for a very short time but I think that time expired during F1 coverage years ago.
I had never heard of Rory so I just watched some of his videos. I think "Wanabe American"sums him up. Can't stand his presentation style but the I think its aimed at a younger demographoc than the one into which I fit.
I suspect that ultimately New Top Gear will be aimed at the under 30's while Old Top Gear will have a more universal appeal as it always seemed to.
Will I watch both? Yes (provided I can see the old crew without paying for Amazon) at least to start with. Give them both a chance because both have the potential to be good or dire.
I think Leblanc is desperation though.

I like the line up, not a fan of Chris Harris I find his voice monotonous and comes across a bit boring but the rest sound good to me, Sabine has a dry sense of humour and Matt le Blanc is a proper gearhead.
I think they have gone for big line up as most are busy people and spreads the workload about. The only issue I see is the chemistry between them, and being so big will be hard to get that going which could lead to the programme becoming stale and stagnant too quickly, just like old top gear.
The new guy, Rory Reid, I watched his real and laughed out but after a while found him trying too hard to be funny, which I hope once relaxed comes across better.
Top gear is a fine balance between satisfying the nerds and appealing to a wider audience and I hope it works.

With the Stig's actual identity unknown, or at least not confirmed, would it not be feasible to assume that Sabine and / or Monkey could do that job as-and-when rather than employing a dedicated driver?
That's what I was thinking. There is three great drivers in that line-up. Not hard to stick Sabine in a race suit.Be good to see the stig with tits!
