I have not seen anyone rebuild a old F1 car into a track-toy, I doubt it would be done quickly.

Maybe it's an Arrows A23 chassis? Which has a great story!

They were all bought by Paul Stoddart and became Minardi PS04. Then some eventually became the Super Aguri SA06.
A23/PS04 are more angular, have different sidepods and much more aerodynamic flourishes.

This seems very 'generic' F1 car.

It's very close to either the 98 or 99 Arrows with a slightly different generic nose.

The different suspension suggests its a pure show car as per JayEmm above.

98 Arrows below, overall shape seems to match better apart from the rear of the sidepods and also the intake above the driver is different.

Surely it’s never ever going to move under its own steam again? It’s just an objet d’art to put in the middle of the shmuseum?

New video of the delivery is up.

I don't know.

I would have thought Tim would have done as much research on the car as he could.

I do hope the car can be built up so it can be driven, I cannot see it ever being put back to a proper F1 car though, but if it can have an engine installed and the other things so it can be driven if would be epic imo.

It's been done, and by a member on here, (or at least his company) using an Audi 1.8t engine.

I'm assuming it cost eleventy billion pounds to do it. I'll try to find a link it's one of the legendary threads on here.

Chassis is really odd, seems very narrow to have had a V10 in it (around 14 minutes)

That's an internal frame to replace the gearbox/engine since on actual F1 cars they're a stressed member and the rear suspension is bolted directly to it, if there's no engine/box there has to be something else to carry the rear suspension.

Thank you, makes sense, still unsure what the car is.

On the latest vid someone says it could be a 1997 Williams, I did actually look at Williams last night, but the 98 not the 97.

Seems to match a 1997 Williams exactly.

But that rules out it ever being raced, as no way on Earth would a championship winning year Williams ever be sold off on the cheap and converted to a simulator.

So given its a Williams its bitter sweet I guess? It's a better 'car' but it's not a real car and hence can't be made to run as none of it will be meant for aero loads.

On the other hand, get it into its Rothmans livery with Villeneuve stickers and it'll look pretty good!

If it's not a real car can anyone discover where the real cars are? How many would the team have had? Do people really build such good copies?

I suspect there are so many end-of-life suspension pieces, and slightly damaged or unused pieces of bodywork/wings after each season then there isn't any need to 'copy' anything.

The limiting factor will no doubt be the 'tubs' and there are probably several extra ones floating about that can't be reused for racing due to damage but perfectly good enough as a base for a show 'car'.

Teams make basic copies for sponsor events. There’s a chance it could be an early development or damaged carbon tub and the rest of the car is ‘genuine’ carbon parts. However there is a good chance the tub is a plastic replica along with much of the bodywork.

Good chance this is how this started life rather than a stripped out race car.

Suspension looks to have been modified to be like the narrow track post 98 cars as that's when Michelin came in. The rear aero flick on the bodywork has been removed as it probably fouls the narrow track tyres I would think.
