An excellent result all round. Hopefully a bit of a morale booster for the Ukrainian people, they certainly need one.

Pleasing to see that not only have we actually put forward a decent song (as opposed to another bloody Jedward or a 30 year old bloke called Daz singing about teenage life...), but we're also no longer despised by the rest of Europe!

That thought crossed my mind during the process.

It was the first time I'd watched it in 15 years and I can't say that I'll be going out of my way to watch it again.

Great result - possibly would have looked a bit off if we’d beaten Ukraine so…
Why would it have? It's a song contest.

I was watching on a delay and saw Ukraine odds go to 2-1 and thought I was out of pocket.

I didn't get great odds, but 40% ROI on what I considered to be a certainty isn't a bad night's work hehe

Presumably the Ukrainian folk song their entry is based on is older, but their entry reminds me of Beggin', which there have been several versions of.

No - it was not a song contest this year.

Would assume we’ll host next year then. Best result really with Ukraine in first to prove a point and to be honest their song was actually not terrible at all, so I think it was deserved.

Who’d have thought we’d get votes from Europe in a post Brexit world!
Me.

It was obvious UK would do well after leading the support of Ukraine when it mattered.

Germany getting a kicking was also a given after their dismal response.

Delighted for Ukraine and as good as a win for the UK.

Up yours Putin.biggrin

Germany should be last this year, UK should do very well if it's politics at play for many of these voters.
thumbup

Just home from work so missed the banter, but had the contest running on my phone. It should be fun reading all the comments tomorrow.

Not watched a minute of it

Complete and utter bks with Ukraine nailed on to win even if they'd just left roadkill on stage as they're 'act'

How do you know, you didn't watch it.

Some people have no sense of fun.

I should be in bed but had to read the comments, great stuff everyone.

Didn’t watch a minute of it but felt the need to comment? Odd.

Germany and France have been down the bottom with us for a while now haven’t they? We’ve been the unwanted black sheep and their the unwanted bosses and bankers.

Seems about right. It was huge fun but not great musically, so it's not overly surprising that it was far more popular with the public than the judges

Moldova were a fun act and they seem to be enjoying themselves, that’s why the public voted like that.

I don’t normally watch as find it a bit boring but this one I thought was great with lots of good songs/singers.

Ukraine not the best song but it was an interesting arrangement and good performance. Eurovision is not about the best song or most commercial song, it’s a bit of fun and some politic statements sometimes. I am pleased for the winners. The U.K. would have won this time if it wasn’t for the war but overall good contest.
